Disliked: Staff & service, amenities
My booking disappeared from the system, as claimed by the staff. As a result, I was assigned to a very noisy room, which made it difficult for me to sleep. On my second night, I was supposed to stay in a female-only room, but I was only given a mixed room, so I didn’t sleep there. The place has the potential to be a nice option for sleeping, but it really depends on the staff. My experience varied from horrible to just okay. 😟
So the property was okay for its price and the cleanliness was okay but that was a situation with the night reception black man that left me super uneasy.
So he was super rude towards me and the person that was with me from the beginning of the interaction.
So i tried to go in a bit late at night and the main door was locked so I decided to get his atenttion by knocking on the door which he then procced to come towards, with a very arrogant and aggressive manner! After I tried to let my friend that was just taking me home use the toilet he almost threw my friend out physically! So rude towards something so easy to explain specially when I tod him I didnt know! I understand maybe I should of asked but why so much attitude from the beginning? This person needs to learn manners! Like be friendly and nice! Its embarassing like can you not communicate? Absolutely crazy but thats what you get from staying at cheap places!
Thats not a way to treat someone regardless of situation! Even after my friend left he continued with the same attitude towards me!
Btw theres no lift so you have to carry your stuff upstairs.
Convenient location, nice staff, clean bathrooms. Pros end there, the most uncomfortable sleep I’ve had in a long time - heating on 24/7 the rooms are so incredibly stuffy I felt like I couldn’t breathe icl. Minimal ventilation, Plug sockets janky - only one worked and had to go plug my stuff in the opposite side of room. Guess you get what you pay for but would not stay again.
The guy working daytime and evening at the reception was really unhelpful and had no service mindness whatsoever. He was clueless about everything and every time I reported a problem he couldn’t help me.
I asked for a room that was quiet but got a room with two broken windows facing the busy trafficked street which obviously was cold because of the broken windows. Nothing he could do about it and nothing they bothered to mention.
The cleaning guy entered my female dorm when I was in the shower and didn’t leave when he heard me. I reported it to the same guy in the reception and he only asked “did he knock?”. I obviously didn’t hear him being in the shower.
Last night two clients visiting the bar that belonged to hostel almost killed a poor hostel guest. I witnessed it and had to talk to the police when they arrived. They had no bouncer there at that time so there was no one there to help the poor guy except me and the staff. Tried to pull the guy off him to save him from being beTed to death. A really scary situation.
Upon waking in a more pricey but safer female dorm, there was a man that woke up out of his slumber….I was shocked! A moment earlier I was changing! Wow! Not safe even in a female shared room these days! Unacceptable. Management did not handle the matter at all. My reservation clearly stated female.
I was in the 9 bunk bed girls room for one night. It was clean with clean linen. There was a shower and separate loo and basin and the shower had hot water. The place was safe and the staff were polite, comfortably casual, and helpful. I stayed to go to a gig in Cameden and on chatting to some of the other girls they were also going to gigs but different to mine. Yes a backpackers and not a hotel but really good value for money. I would stay again. Thank you for my safe stay St Christoper's Inn ooxox
