They are located in an area known for strong and severe storms. One would think the owners would get a backup generator of some kind. Nope. The power went out during a severe storm the first night of my stay, which happened to be my birthday, and I was forced to try sleeping on top of the covers with no circulating air in the because, you guessed it, of no backup generator. If I ever make it back to the greater Kansas City area I will sleep in my car before I stay at the Sonesta Essentials - Overland Park again."
