Pleasant and relaxing

Pros: Plentiful and tasty food was always available. The drinks were good and easy to get quick.
Cons: Move the nightly shows up and hour or so. Starting at 9:30 was too late for me.
Location: Not much is close. It would be nice if the hotel offered a complimentary shuttle to shopping in town. If you like to run, there is a nice outer road
We had a great trip and are looking forward to returning. Next time we might schedule a snorkeling trip. It would be nice if the hotel offered a shuttle to town for shopping. It would also have been better for me if the nightly show would have started at 8:30 or 9:00 instead of 9:30. All the food was good and the staff were very nice.

Beautiful resort but beware of thieves

Pros: Beautiful grounds, wonderful staff
Cons: ROOM SECURITY
Location: We took a jeep excursion and drove south of the resort to a private beach that was beautiful and had a neat lighthouse where we got great pics
The Iberostar resort is absolutely beautiful; it was exactly what I expected to see on my beach vacation. The grounds, the pools, the bungalows, the restaurants, the beach and the flamingos were gorgeous. The girls that served us on the beach, Ana and Kimberly, gave us fantastic service and both were very nice. The star friends were also super nice; we had breakfast with several of them each morning. Orlando, Gabrielle and Juan were so very nice to our group of 8 people. They also put on the best shows each night, which was all included. With that said, here's the bad part. Our second day of our stay we had a problem with our room safe. We had security to come open it for us, then maintenance had to come clear the code. After they left we put in our new code, locked up our cash and went to dinner and the show. The next morning, half of our money was gone from our safe. We reported the theft to the management and filed a report. Two days later the GM told us that he was sure that we had misplaced the money and that we would find it in our luggage when we got home. We did not. We did our best to not let it spoil our trip but it was very upsetting that nothing was really done about it. Obviously whoever took our money has done this before because it made sense that if all of our money was taken there was definitely a theft but since only half of our money was gone we could easily be blamed for misplacing it. Also, we had no water to our room twice and no hot water on last day.

Paradise on a budget!

Pros: We loved the tropical feel of this resort with so many palm trees on the beach. It felt like we were walking through the jungle.
Location: Alberto's Seafood Restaurant is right next door on the beach. We highly recommend the Seafood Platter for 2. Beachfront dining at its best!
We really enjoyed our trip to the Iberostar Cozumel. Although the rooms are older, they are clean and there was plenty of room for our family (2 adults + 1 child). There are no furniture pieces to store your clothing besides the closet, so I would suggest packing some extra clothes hangers. This was our first time to stay at an all-inclusive resort that had dinner buffet with only a few nights at a speciality restaurant. Although the food was good & there were plenty of items to choose from, we have learned that we prefer a resort that offers only a la carte dinners. The steakhouse was by far the best restuarant for dinner. We ate there twice and both times were excellent. The beach is beautiful & yes, we were able to walk from the beach into the water with our water shoes just fine. We never saw any seaweed on the beach. We were always able to find beach chairs in the shade without any trouble. Pool chairs in the sun were also available anytime, but pool chairs in the shade were reserved with towels quickly in the morning. All of the staff were so friendly. We never had any problems while on our trip. We highly recommend Iberostar Cozumel for families who are looking for an all-inclusive vacation while on a budget. There were plenty of activities for kids of all ages.

Peaceful in nature

Pros: Kind of a rustic feel, isolated, within nature. It's true, the beach is rocky but they built a nice, wide set of stairs off the dock to enter water.
Cons: Rooms do need remodeling, showing their age; still not bad.
Location: Quite remote, that's what we like. Public beaches are nearby, you can take a taxi. I saw a zipline place closeby too. We stayed within the resort.
We have stayed at Iberostar resorts several times and find that they are one of the best. Iberostar Cozumel is slightly below the standard of most Iberostars, but only slightly. That is only because it is old. Still, the comfort, food, entertainment, staff are all wonderful! I don't know if the rooms are different sizes but we had a king size bed in the room and it was comfortable and very roomy, not small. The shows are very good, especially when the professional group comes to the hotel to perform the traditional Mexican dances of the various regions. It's worth seeing. The entertainment staff is very enjoyable too. I was sick (not because of food or anything like that) and everyone was so attentive. They called several times to see how I was feeling and the first day one of the managers came to our room to see how I was. They took care of calling the doctor who came immediately and getting my prescription ordered and delivered within an hour afterwards. The medics were absolutely wonderful! I recovered quickly and enjoyed our stay. The place is set in nature so if you enjoy animals it's great. The peacocks roam the grounds. Wild pigs can be seen at night. They are harmless and afraid of people. We loved being on the second floor. The waiters work very hard and are very attentive. Carlos was especially friendly, a super waiter, and very nice person. The beach is lovely for lounging. You do need water shoes. Water is clear, nice, some sandy areas.

Nice cabana right on the beach!

Pros: Stocked mini-bar (in the suites at least). Food was good, especially the steakhouse. Decent wireless. Entertainment. Iguanas & peacocks.
Cons: Gym equipment (cardio). The didn't respond to emails. Scented candles in the room to mask mustiness (airport will confiscate them).
Location: Definitely take snorkel excursion (the hotel and beach have similar local options). If you like bars definitely go to Coconuts and Bob Marley's.
We usually to go the Iberostar Bavaro in Punta Cana, but thought we'd check out another part of the Caribbean. Again, Iberostar didn't disappoint. The airport experience was nice. We rented a car as recommended on other reviews and opted for the full insurance. I'm not sure it's necessary, but since we didn't have phone service and didn't clear the charges with the bank in advance we had to get the insurance...no worries. It was an easy drive to the hotel and around the island. Parking was free at the hotel and only $1 an hour elsewhere. Upon arriving at the hotel we learned we were upgraded to a very nice suite on the water...a very pleasant surprise. The employees were very friendly. The resort was well organized, although a lot of people were having a hard time finding their rooms. The drinks were so-so, but the food was better than average. Although, ironically, we didn't care for the Mexican restaurant (good everywhere else). Make your dinner reservations upon arriving. The buffet is quite good too, especially for breakfast and lunch. The facilities are clean and aesthetically pleasing. However, the gym equipment really needs some attention; particularly, the aerobic machines. The treadmills and elliptical machines were mostly inoperative (only one each worked). We had wireless connectivity everywhere (unexpected). The entertainment throughout the day was nicely done, and the night shows (at 9:30) were excellent. Only real negative was the small beach (to walk/run)

Unique resort on the beach

Location: About a 20 minute drive from the airport. Cost us $12 per person for a shuttle to Iberostar, and $30 for a taxi back to the airport.
Take plenty of bug spray--lots of mosquitos, but the landscaping and foliage is beautiful! Rooms are very clean and the a/c is cold, and they are in cute little brightly colored bungalows with thatch roof and a private porch and hammock. You'll see plenty of cats, flamingos, peacocks, iguanas and javelinas (little piggies) running around. Beach is nice and clean but small; plenty of shade for lounging under the palms! The reef comes right up to the shore but you can snorkel from the end of the pier. There was a bit of construction/renovation going on during our stay--a couple of restaurants were closed, and the disco was closed, and there is some construction noise. Ask for waiter Salomon at your a la carte dinners--very knowledgeable about the wine list, and ask him about the Mexican fire coffee! The buffets are great too--so many fresh fruits, veggies, cheeses, breads, to choose from. Less than a 5 min walk down the beach is a little beach bar, Alberto's I think. They have food and drinks and live music Tues and Thurs nights. Sitting in the hotel lobby Fri night before dinner, having a cocktail, we were surprised by a mariachi band that walked in and started playing! The nightly shows are fun and the staff enthusiastic.

Worst vacation

Pros: The bars
Cons: Everything
Location: Weren't given any information!!!
This hotel did so much false advertising. First our flight was cancelled due to mechanical problems. We personally called the hotel and informed them. They had already charged us and refused to refund that night. Our travel company contacted them also, but still refused, and we stayed 3 nights . THERE WAS NO AIR CONDITIONING. We had to argue to receive a fan to sleep at night. Then checking out they checked us to see if we took the fan. All food was disgusting. Made a big deal about reservations but places weren't crowded. Not many menu items available and buffets were the same over and over. No information was given concerning nightly entertainment. This place gave their hotel a very bad name. It was rated a 5 star. Ha ha
