You know that dream you have of being on a desolate beach somewhere in the tropics, sipping a drink with umbrellas? You’ll be happy to know that it’s not a dream. It’s right outside your plane window, because you’re on a flight to Turks and Caicos. Those turquoise waters and crisp white beaches are only minutes away when you touch down at Providenciales International Airport (PLS). This is the Caribbean vacation you’ve been waiting for, so start thinking about what color umbrella you prefer in your summer rum punch.
Transportation From PLS
You’re probably antsy to get off your Turks and Caicos flight and start your adventure, but some transportation is required if you want to leave the terminal. Taxi services are located in the arrival section of the airport--just outside baggage claim—and can take you to all the hotels near PLS. They’ll also take you to and from the airport to just about any part of the island. A more convenient way to explore the island is to get your own set of wheels from one of several rental car companies in the terminal. That means no cab fares when you want to check out Grace Bay, Chalk Sound National Park, or take a nice, long drive down the Leeward Highway. You’ll definitely want to do some stand-up paddle boarding in Mangrove Cay at the northeast end of Providenciales. It’s perfect for seeing wildlife like turtles, small sharks, and an array of different bird species.
