How to get through airport security fast when traveling to Portland

Your adventure to Portland starts as soon as you've finished all the security checks. Here is a list of useful tips to help you pass through quickly:

  • Make sure you know the location of your passport and boarding pass. You don't want to hold up the queue when you're asked to present them.
  • Wallets, USB sticks and mobile phones should be put in a tray for X-raying. If you pass through the body scanner with any of these items, you'll be requested to turn back and remove them.
  • Ensure your laptop, phone and other electronic devices are within reach. These items need to be put through the X-ray machine in separate bins.
  • When you get to the security checkpoint, you'll be asked to place all gels, liquids and creams in a separate tray for inspection. Make sure they're all packed in containers smaller than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) and sealed in a clear zip-lock bag.
  • The airport security may ask you to remove your shoes in preparation for entering the body scanner. Choose a pair that come off easily. There's nothing more tiresome than having to do up your laces again and again.
  • The list of non-permissible items is forever updating. Read over your airline's official website to learn about what is not allowed on board their flights.
