Bristol Hotel & Travel Guide\n
Holden Caulfield, one of the literature’s most famous cynics, ends “The Catcher in the Rye” in front of a carousel. He stands there watching his sister ride the merry-go-round, knowing that childhood can’t stop, that kids are still going to want to grow up faster than they should, but in way, he’s ok with that. For in that instant, he can watch her happiness as she spins on the pretty horses, and share the magic of a moment that’s already fraying at the edges into nostalgia. Bristol, Connecticut, knows something about preserving childlike wonder and memory. Perhaps it’s why Bristol is home to the New England Carousel Museum. As you sink down on the century-old ride and feel the tug of the gentle spin, close your eyes, and let this time and place turn into a memory.
Visit Bristol
As you walk out of our hotels in Bristol, CT you might notice that the town has a special place for time. Whether it’s the preserved homes or a sense of community that had faded from larger cities, this is a place that still feels like a memory of something familiar. You might even want to venture into the Witch’s Dungeon Classic Movie Museum, which has shelves of memorabilia of old monster movies you used to watch with your grandparents on Halloween night. After a few spooks, you might want to slip into your Bristol rental car and arrive to another marker of time in Bristol: The American Clock and Watch Museum. Here you’ll find a world of minutes and hours, ticking, resting, and measuring the days with quiet precision. Take your time in the museum; your Bristol hotel will be waiting for you when you’re done.
