Don't stay here!

Pros: The bar staff was friendly and helpful.
It was hot, the windows could not be opened at night because of the noise from the city. Also renovations were being done on the outside of the building, right outside our window. So we couldn't keep our windows open during the day to air out the room because workmen were right outside our window. They woke us up at 8:00 am with the loud chatter and scraping. The Schiller should have closed the rooms on the front of the hotel and placed guests in the back rooms. Other than a very friendly, helpful bartender, the rest of the staff had a bit of arrogance about them.

Centrally located and convenient to everything.

Pros: Location and price.
Whether your first time to Amsterdam or a seasoned veteran this is a good choice. If you want to be close to all the action, shops, markets, clubs this is a great central place to use as base camp. Right on the train stop and close to the shopping district. If you are looking for peace and quiet this is probably not your best bet. This hotel is designed for those who plan on getting out and about and taking in everything the city has to offer.

Perfect! Perfect! Perfect!

My girlfriend and I just got back from a European get-away. We spent a week hopping through the UK, France, and Holland. Between London and Paris the hotels were sub par, cramped, old and outdated, and over priced. By time we got to Amsterdam we thought there was no such thing as a great European hotel for this price range. When we found Rembrandt Square and looked up to find our beautiful hotel in a perfect location, we knew instantly this would be different. The hotel lobby and bar are gorgeous and classic. The staff was sincerely friendly and walked us to our door to find an outstanding room. While not the largest room I've ever been in, for the two of us it was simply perfect. Modern style, flat panel wall mounted tv, newly renovated bathroom with beautiful hot water, and a phenomenal view of the square. Obviously the hotel wasn't the most amazing aspect of Amsterdam, but it certainly made our stay a comfortable and cozy one. I will certainly be returning to the NH Schiller many many times to come in the future.

Great experience

Got a great room with view over Rembrandtplein. Staff was helpful, but not too friendly. Room and service were what I expected for what I paid for the stay. Location is great, literally steps away from the tram line, and cabs are always waiting outside. Coffeeshops all around area, as well as great restaurants. Breakfast was VERY overrated, but dinner was fantastic!

A lovely hotel

My wife and I stayed at the Schiller for our 15th anniversary. If you're looking for the exact opposite of a cookie-cutter hotel, this is it.The staff was helpful and friendly. We arrived on an early flight and were given a room immediately. The room's double doors let in lots of fresh air, and the hotel is convenient to everything. It can be a bit noisy on the square, but it didn't bother us.

Very nice hotel

Good location. Walking, restaurants, canals all nearby.Room was surprisingly large as was bathroom and very well-equipped. Beds very comfortable. Staff spoke English and was very helpful providing transportation info. We had just returned from 3 weeks in Italy where ALL breakfast buffets were included. When they told us about the breakfast buffet, we didn't ask. We had 3-4 slices of cheese, 3-4 slices of ham, coffee and 2 hard rolls. Cost: 32 euros! Will stay here again as location is very central and hotel was lovely. No A/C. Didn't need it in October.

Best Hotel in Amsterdam!!!

In a big night time hotspot, this hotel is in the center of the action. Views overlook a square with trees-beautiful! Ask for a room with opening dbl doors to balcony! Also-one of the biggest coffeeshops next door! We also where able to walk everywhere, and the train picks up outside the hotel but is quiet! We had the best vacation ever-good service at hotel! But if you like a quiet spot, this may not be for you. Party central with loud weekend events your thing? COME HERE!!!!!!

Amsterdam in May

Exceptional location (for museums, dining, cafe's, shopping), wonderful staff, cleanliness, and overall atmosphere. Bottled water in the room somewhat expensive but plenty of near-by stores to take care of that. Would stay there again. Next door Indrapura restaurant (Indonesian cuisine) and down the block D'Antica (Italian cuisine) highly recommended. Rooms facing the square (Rembrandtplein) may be noisy for some due to trolley traffic but worth putting up with for the view and atmosphere. Tip: ask front desk to make reservations for your dining adventures.
