May 20 year-old daughter and I like to get together at hotels about 6 to 9 times a year. I grew up loving the Embassy suites and so I took her there this time overall it was great.

Love ES but needs freshening up!

We LOVE Embassy Suites…but, the mattresses were *really bad* in our room. Also, everything seems a little “old” (nicks, wear and water stains on the furniture, stains on carpeting, rusted pool chairs, etc). It just doesn’t seem fresh. Of course, there’s a ROI when spending money on all new furniture and carpeting, etc. Embassy suites is our favorite chain-it fits our family perfectly and we travel a lot. They all just seem a little rundown. The staff was amazing-very friendly and accommodating. We love the manager’s reception and the breakfast (but no biscuits and gravy?!-maybe that was for the best for me…) PLEASE don’t let this hotel run into the ground. We do truly love it.

We were ther for 3 nighta, not once did the coffee in the room get replenished!!! Dirty towels were left in the bathroom. Used washcloths were picked up but not replaced! One of the trash cans was taken from the room! Down to 1 in the main area and bedroom combined! Bed was made poorly! We had late checkout, 2pm, but was not communicated that our room key would be shut off at noon. Frustrated when we went to our room to get our stuff!

This was great with a buddy. It’s downtown Des Moines. Short walk to farmers market on Saturday morning. Took a walk by myself in the afternoon, not smart. Use the buddy system. It’s a big old beautiful city.

This hotel desperately needs to be updated. My room had a horrible musty smell, the toilet is made for a child and extremely hard to sit on, and having to go across the street to park is extremely inconvenient.

This is the second time we have stayed at this Embassy Suites hotel and absolutely love it. The location is awesome and convenient to walk to a abundance of restaurants. The staff were awesome and welcoming and efficient. The happy hour drinks and snacks were great as well as the morning breakfast buffet where we enjoyed a delicious custom made omelette. We will be back!!!

Parking is NOT FREE (my fault for not noticing). Furniture needs a good update. Tub had a rust. The TV was cutting out and the pool was COLD. Breakfast was decent. The free drink from the bar was so watered down we didn’t bother the second night. Location was good. Probably won’t choose to stay there again.

Futon dirty when I pulled it out to make up my bed. Wedding reception going on 2 floors below us till late at night so noise carried thru to our room. Loved the location (close to shops and restaurants and easy to get to car show at the fairgrounds) carpet in our room was frayed and needs replaced
