"Awesome hotel, perfect location!"
If you are looking to stay in downtown Indianapolis, I highly recommend the Omni Severin. The location is perfect, just about everything is in walking distance. The best restaurants, Lucas Oil Stadium, monuments, etc. The price is a bit higher than average but like they say, "You get what you pay for"

"Close to IU Medical Hospital and GREAT VIEW"
I booked this hotel to be close to IU Medical Hospital plus I am a Choice Hotels member and knew I would not be let down. My sister had a 6 hour surgery scheduled for March 11th and I figured it would be 9:00 before I got to check in. I called the hotel around 4:00 and told them her surgery started later than the anticipated time, so it would be even later than that when I arrived for check-in. I was told there would be not problem with room availability. Her surgery ended up being 7 hours and longer in recovery, so I finally arrived at the hotel around 10:15 (?) and everything about my check-in was extremely pleasant, prompt and they made every effort to make my late arrival a great experience. I even got a call in my room about 20 minutes later to make sure everything was okay. As I made my way to the windows to close them that night I was treated to a great surprise. Lucas Oil Stadium in it's full glory was lit up just outside my window. As a huge Colts fan this was a perfect ending to a long day.

"Had a great stay!"
Breakfast was great, room was great. The front desk staff was not real helpful whenwe checked in; we asked about nearby restaurants. I would like to get some kind of receipt. Even if it said we didn't owe anything. You get no receipt if you book online.

Great location! Walk to see the colts or to the canal. Yes, the mini bar and parking is crazy but with the great price that we got, it was worth it. Parking is 20 to 27 dollars. They have pay per view movies in the room. Snacks and drinks in mini bar around 5 dollars with an added tax. Don't open it if you don't want it. Starbucks and Shulas in the hotel.

"Nice, but...."
Very new and modern, almost sterile. Staff friendly and heplul, but a bit "casual" for my taste. Did not retain any of the charm and elegance of the old Canterbury (it's predecessor) in the renovation or operation. Room was very clean and well appointed in a spartan "scandanavian" way. Bed was comfortably firm, but triple sheeting with a heavy duvet made it difficult to get to a comfortable place...A/C blew directly on my sleeping face. All-in -all, just "OK" for a supposedly upscale Inn.

"Surprisingly delighted!"
I was on a trip from the Midwest to the east coast with three young sons. I was nervous to stay in a hotel without my husband. The hotel was in a safe-feeling area near the Indianapolis Airport, but not so close that we heard any air traffic noise and we were on the top floor. It had the most comfortable hotel bed and linens I experienced... Even better feeling than room we stayed in over Spring Break by a different hotel chain that was literally five times more expensive than this room! AND each queen size bed had four hypoallergenic pillows on them. Another great surprise was the "express check-in" that required me to be at the check-in desk less than 15 seconds!!! My check-in info sheet was pre-printed and the key card was already coded. It was a relief when coming in late at night with three sleepy sons and with my arms full of personal items. I will definitely plan to stay here each time I make the trip from the Midwest to the east coast and back.

Most area hotels are located close to the city center, and many are connected to both Lucas Oil Stadium and the Indianapolis Convention Center via the Skywalk enclosed pedestrian connectors. During your stay in downtown Indianapolis, you will find the city center pleasantly packed with retail, restaurants, and cultural entertainment, voted one of the best downtown areas in the U.S.

Access to the downtown business and financial districts via IndyGo city bus is provided on a regular basis from the airport and other points within the city. Once guests have arrived in the city core, a car may prove unnecessary due to the proximity to many attractions. While bus service does connect to a number of venues citywide, a shuttle offers further connections from the downtown area to several nearby cities.

Lodging and hotel price points are average for a medium-sized city in the Midwest, with a broad range from affordable value-priced stays to some fairly extravagant downtown suites. There are several options near the airport, again with a broad range, and several hotels located on Interstate 465 as it circles the city. Such locations may prove appropriate for guests visiting addresses outside the city center, in which case a rental car may be advisable.

    What to See

The Indiana Soldiers and Sailors Monument on Monument Circle is a touching tribute to Indiana's military members and a breathtaking sight you won't want to miss. Built between 1888 and 1901, it has the distinction of being the largest monument of its kind in the United States built to honor everyday soldiers. This impressive limestone obelisk topped by a bronze statue stands 284 feet tall. Since 1962, the monument has been decorated with strings of lights every holiday season. Next, stop at the remarkable Indiana War Memorial. Designed to resemble one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, the Tomb of Mausolus, this magnificent memorial contains the Indiana War Memorial Museum. And no trip to Indianapolis would be complete without a visit to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, home of the Indianapolis 500 as well as the Brickyard 400, races that attract huge throngs of spectators every year. It is the largest spectator facility in the world. Even if you're not a fan of racing, this iconic Indianapolis landmark and the accompanying Hall of Fame Museum are definitely worth seeing.

    What to Do

There are plenty of great ways to stay active in Indianapolis. You'll find a number of walking and bicycle tours that will take you to all of the city's major sights. You can also walk or ride your bicycle along the Indianapolis Cultural Trail, an eight-mile urban bike and pedestrian path that connects five of the city's various districts. This amazing path offers access to a number of Indianapolis attractions, including museums, restaurants, shops, and Lucas Oil Stadium. Get back to nature with a hike in the city's gorgeous Eagle Creek Park. Just minutes from downtown, this massive city park includes about 10 miles of nature trails, where you might spot deer and other wildlife, and Eagle Creek Park Marina, where you can take a boat, a kayak, or a canoe out on the water. The scenic White River State Park is also a fantastic place for a bike ride or a run. Located on the banks of the White River in downtown Indianapolis, it's a popular place for people to enjoy the great outdoors.

While you're there, you should check out the many cultural attractions in the park. Take time to admire all of the live animals in the various habitats found at the Indianapolis Zoo. Children and adults alike will delight to see elephants, tigers, giraffes, orangutans, dolphins, and the many other exotic animals that call the zoo home. Next, visit the Indiana State Museum, also located within the White River State Park. Inside, you'll find all sorts of exhibits relating to the fields of science, history, and art. The museum is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. If you're all tired out from riding bicycles or touring the cultural attractions, the White River State Park is also a wonderful place to just relax. You could sit in the shade or enjoy a picnic on the grass with friends.

    When to Go

There's no bad time to travel to Indianapolis, Indiana. The city sees a lot of visitors during the summer months, when temperatures hover in the 80s and school is no longer in session. This is the most popular time of year for families to go on family vacations, and the many sporting events that Indianapolis hosts in the summer make the city a favorite with Hoosiers and non-Hoosiers alike. The Indianapolis 500 takes place over Memorial Day weekend each year, and if you're a racing fan, this is definitely the time to visit. Just be aware that Indianapolis hotels, especially hotels in downtown Indianapolis, will fill up quickly for this event, so don't wait until the last moment to book your accommodations online. Fewer people choose to visit Indianapolis during the winter, when colder temperatures and snow could put a damper on vacations. However, Monument Circle is a dazzling spectacle during the holiday season, when the Indiana Soldiers and Sailors Monument is decorated with sparkling lights like a giant limestone-and-bronze Christmas tree. Due to the decrease in tourism, the winter is a great time to find savings on Indianapolis hotels. Downtown Indianapolis is also the perfect place to do some holiday shopping.
