"Domus Solis San Pietro" is a charming apartment located on the 5th floor of an elegant building in the impressive Piazza del Risorgimento, the heart of Prati district in Rome.

This bright apartment enjoys an excellent location: it is just a few steps from St. Peter's Basilica, whose dome is visible from almost every room , giving our guests a breathtaking view of the Eternal City; the main attractions of the City such as Castel Sant'Angelo, Piazza Navona , Spanish Steps , Pantheon, Trevi Fountain , Lungotevere and Piazza del Popolo, are within easy walking distance; the famous Via Ottaviano and Via Cola di Rienzo, heart of roman shopping, are just a few meters; subway and buses are just there and allows you to easily visit the rest of the City.

The area surrounding the " Domus Solis San Pietro" is full of all sorts of facilities: restaurants, bars, wine bars, wine bars, supermarkets, pharmacies, banks, post offices , etc. .

Pros: Two bedrooms have views of the dome of St Peter's basilica. The location is right on the Vatican wall, so it's easy to hop in line for your tours.Cons: All the traffic that routs around the Vatican wall passes right in front of the apartment at all hours, so sleeping with the windows open for fresh air is too loud. The listing was a bit misleading. In one text section it says 3 bed, 3 bath. But in the photo section, it pictures 4 bedrooms. It was not obvious to me when booking this apartment that the 4th bedroom pictured is actually the kitchen and it's using a pullout couch/bed. When the bed is extended, it hits the corner of the dining room table and there's no way to get to the fridge without climbing over the bed. Thank goodness we did not need to do any cooking, otherwise this would have been terribly inconvenient. In summary, there are 3 bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms. There is a 4th room that is a kitchen with a pullout couch. There is a 4th bathroom in the hallway. I was booking for our multi-generational family of 8 and wish I'd understood that the only common room was also the 4th bedroom as we would have liked more room.The host team was very responsive on WhatsApp. The check-in process involves getting the key from a lock-box at a luggage storage facility 5 minutes away (consider using the facility on the same block as the apartment). This was a very different experience from Venice and Florence where our VRBO hosts met us at the apt with maps.

The elevator didn’t work !! We were a party of 9 with suitcases, elderly and kids. The apartment is 10 flights of steps and it was hot so it was extremely unbearable to go up and down the stairs.Some of us didn’t leave the apartment because they couldn’t walk the stairs because each time we checked it’s not working. The property bedrooms sizes were good. However, 2 bedrooms bathrooms showers was very very small.
Down or up no access to get inside the elevator door will not open
It stay in this all during our stay! We went down to bring it up and we walk up to see if we can bring it down no luck!

This apartment is literally in front of the Vatican and it located in a great location for visiting Rome. The apartment is also very well kept and spacious for large families that are traveling together. Two of the three bedrooms literally oversee the Vatican and you can see St. Peter's Basilica very clearly! We took family photos right from our window. The apartment had everything we needed - a bathroom for each bedroom, a nice kitchen and a great location!The property management company was also extremely responsive and helpful especially for check-in purposes. The property management company also helped us with our airport pickup taxi and apartment which helped us enjoy our trip better right from the airport!Keep in mind that the apartment is located in a beautiful historic building, which means that the elevators were installed at a later point in time. So the elevator stops between floors. To get to the apartment there are roughly 10-15 steps going up when you enter to use the elevator and another 10 or so steps down from the 5th floor to get to the apartment. It's not a lot, but something to keep in mind if traveling with a stroller or a lot of luggage. Would definitely stay there again and we highly recommend the apartment for anyone looking to stay in Rome and especially for anyone looking to be close to the Vatican! Thank you for a great stay!

Great stay in Rome

The location and property is exactly as described. Roomy, clean and in a great location. The only negative was that if you are traveling with a lot of luggage you need to first go to a locker storage a few blocks away and they do not accommodate large luggage. We had to then hope to get into the apartment early to drop off our luggage and luckily they were able to have the cleaning lady meet us with a key to let us in. We were jet lagged and had to wait in the hot sun for her for about an hour - not a great way to check in. My advice is make sure you time your arrival for the proper check in time so you can skip this whole odd process….

We had a fantastic stay at this rental! The apartment was spotless, well-appointed, and had everything we needed for a comfortable visit. The air conditioning was a lifesaver after long days out in the summer heat—cool, efficient, and refreshing.The location couldn’t have been better situated in a charming neighborhood with plenty of excellent dining options nearby, including our favorite gelateria, Old Bridge.Communication with the owners and property managers was seamless. Their instructions were clear, and check-in/check-out went off without a hitch.One helpful tip for future guests: if your flight arrives early or departs late, consider booking an extra night to avoid any inconvenience with luggage storage, if availability allows.Highly recommended—we would absolutely stay here again!

Great location steps from the Vatican. You do have to walk to get the key, and walk up one flight of stairs then down another to get to the unit. There was a musty smell that never quite left, we kept one of the bathrooms closed as that’s where it seemed to come from. When messaging the host we were told the sewer was being worked on. I received a message in the last night that neighbors were complaining that we were having a party and being too loud, but we were not even at the unit. When I questioned the message, I received no response. Overall good stay, but a few things that made a difference.

Great spot for a family of 7

The location for this spot is incredible - we could walk to St. Peter's in 10 minutes or to the subway in 5. For a family visiting Rome on pilgrimage, this was just perfect. We especially liked the views, and the elevator was very helpful for our luggage.

Check in & luggage storage frustrating.

All good except checking in & storage of luggage was very frustrating. Long walk with luggage & lockers you said were available did not hold our luggage & had to find vendor & pay extra to store our luggage for the day as we had booked an excursion. Wonderful property and location outside Vatican City

Beyond expectations!

We were so happy to have our family stay so comfortably at your property. It is directly in front of the Vatican. The neighborhood is lively and has great bites close by. The property was very clean and we will be happy to stay there again. It is on the 5th floor and the elevator only fits a few people and luggages but we managed just fine. 5 stars!

Best location & view of the Vatican

The 3 spacious bedrooms with attached bathrooms were great for a larger family. The extra shower & bath was a bonus as well. The view and the location to all sites was top notch as well as quick communication with the staff. We had a tremendous amount of luggage so be aware that there is stairs before and after the elevator to account for. Access to taxi, metro, cafes, restaurants and gelato were within quick walking distance as well as the Vatican. In the future, it would be great to add a washing machine which was missing from this location.

Great place to stay!

I think the rooms can be rented separately as each one came with its own key with a shared hallway, bathroom and kitchen. Since we booked the whole place for our family of four it worked out great. Everything was nice and clean and modern. And the location, right next to the Vatican, was excellent. We found a parking garage right around the corner and then we were able to walk most of the places we visited during our stay.

Great stay!

Perfectly suited for quick and easy access to the Vatican and central Rome is within walking distance (20 min) or by subway (5 min). Plenty of restaurants and shopping close by within a 2-3 block radius. Felt safe even when coming and going late at night. Apartment has 3 nicely sized queen bedrooms with en-suite baths, plus an extra bathroom in the hallway - one room has a single and a queen in it (accomodating 3pp). Two sets of keys were provided for each room. The rooms were clean and neat and we had plenty of space; one set of towels were provided for each guest. The only downside to this unit is the lack of a living room/gathering area. There is a small kitchen that also has also has a sofa/bed couch in it for extra people - but there is no real area to sit and hang out. No matter, we were exhausted after sightseeing and late night dinners anyway. There is a small elevator that can accommodate 2-3 people max, or one person with luggage - you must go up 2-3 steps to get to the elevator, then once the elevator stops on your floor you must go down about 7-8 steps to get to the apartment. The rooms are nicely soundproofed with the windows closed (even though you are on a busy street). Our contact, Stefano, kept in contact before we arrived and he was kind enough to come and find us several blocks away where we were unexpectedly dropped off by our shuttle. He explained everything about the apartment and the area. I'd definitely recommend this apartment for a stay near the Vatican.

Awesome location. Great apartment

This was a great find for our group of 8. Check in was easy and quick. 3 full bedrooms and bathrooms. (Each with their own 2sets of keys) A pull-out bed in the kitchen and an additional bathroom in the hall way. Bathrooms have showers, no tubs(not good or bad, just sharing) each room had a electric tea kettle and mugs and tea/coffee assortment. Kitchen was equipt enough that I was able to make pasta dinner a few nights. Eggs and toast for breakfast. There is no oven but there is a toaster and stove top. A few knives and pans. Lots of dishes. Table with 4 chairs. We pulled it away from the wall and moved a few chairs in from the bedrooms to seat 6. The elevator can really only hold 2 regular size adults. I would ride up with the stroller and baby and everyone else took the stairs. We got groceries a few nights and couldn't do 2 adults with food. It wasn't a size issue, but weight. It won't work if the weight is over. There is a good local bakery a few blocks away that was so cheap and delicious we ended up walking there a few times. Also lots of nice and close lunch and dinner options. (I like trip advisor for finding places to go) I can't get over the view and location. Literally across the street is the wall to the Vatican. Located on the 5th floor, you can see the saint Peters dome from 2 of the 3 bedrooms. A metro stop is a couple blocks away so getting around was easy. Free wifi. Big open windows that have shutters on the outside. When the outer shutters are closed it is really dark in the room so you can sleep till you want to get up. I loved that the whole apartment was decorated nicely, but didn't have stuff all over that my kids could have broken or got lost. The only thing we moved up to a high shelf was a glass jar of dried potpourri. This made the whole night stand clear so we could use every space. I highly recommend this place to large groups. It was our oasis when we were done for the day or needed some down time before more sight seeing. Awesome place to hang your hat.
