Stunning House with direct beach access

Mahogany Pod is a three bedroom townhouse located by Paynes Bay on the fashionable West Coast of Barbados. The property has the unusual benefit of stunning sea views to all the bedrooms and living areas. The sandy beach is accessed from your own gate at the bottom of the garden and offers great snorkeling on your doorstep. The house has been furnished in the style of a family home as opposed to a holiday let and the piece d'resistance is the spacious penthouse master bedroom that includes a sitting area with large flat screen TV, Mini fridge, full length balcony, walk in closet and large bathroom featuring his and hers vanities, bath and shower. Bedrooms 1 and 2 both feature walk in closets, en-suite shower rooms, and french doors leading out onto the balcony with comfy wooden furniture. All bedrooms have a safe, ceiling fans and air conditioning. All bathrooms have hairdryers and little touches such as scented candles, soaps, shower gels and body lotions are provided to enhance your stay. A spacious kitchen is fully equipped with cooker, hob, microwave, large fridge freezer with ice maker, dishwasher and washer dryer as well as an extensive selection of crockery, glasses and cutlery. The lounge has a flat screen satellite TV featuring all the UK & Sky channels as well as Netflix etc and a DVD player. Both the lounge and dining areas have ceiling fans and bi-fold french doors that open the room up to an outside covered veranda with sofas, wet bar and mini fridge, and a large gas BBQ. The plunge pool is the perfect way to cool off after soaking up the sun. Mahogany Pod has WiFi throughout.

Mahogany Pod is only a five minute walk to the infamous Cliff restaurant and all of the west coast restaurants are within a ten - 15 minute bus or taxi ride away. Tide dependant you can walk along the beach to the Sandy Lane hotel.

The owners have been coming to Barbados for many years and will be happy to help with bookings at the islands vast array of restaurants and arrange water-sports such as water-skiing, wake boarding etc to pick you up from the bottom of the garden. The bus to Holetown (restaurants, cinema, shops and supermarket) and Bridgetown stops a few meters from the house.
Included in your stay is a welcome grocery pack, housekeeper 5 mornings a week and night watchman every evening from 6pm - 6am. We can arrange a cook, children's nanny/babysitting, baby equipment hire and airport transfers for you - nothing is too much trouble!

We just concluded a 7 night stay at Mahogany Pod. The house was wonderful! It was clean and comfortable and contained about anything you might need. Emma was very helpful and communicative before we arrived. She answered all of my questions and offered great suggestions. We were thankful for the basic necessities that were provided (eggs, butter, cheese, milk, juice, banana bread, etc). A large supermarket (Massy) was a quick and easy bus ride (bus stop is just behind the home). Mother Nature is amazing, as when we arrived, there were numerous rocks visible off the steps to the beach. By about day 3, they were mostly covered by sand. I would have loved to have seen it before the erosion caused by storms over the past few years. It wasn’t a large issue because there is a beach just to the left that we used. In addition to the beach, we also recommend the Harrison Cave Tram, Trail and Rum Tasting, the catamaran and snorkel trip offered by ElTigre, and the Harbour Lights dinner show. Restaurants that were good include the Sea Shed, Sugar Apple, and Karibou. We didn’t particularly care for the pizza place across from the house (DeClay). We would be remiss if we didn’t give kudos to Tamica, the housekeeper, and Charlie, the gardener. They were so helpful and friendly. Also Perry the taxi driver was great! And if you want fresh fish prepared just for you and ready for the grill, Melissa at the fish hut on the beach was the best!I would highly recommend this home!

Really, everything. We’d never used VRBO before so we weren’t sure what to expect. All good. The place was “as presented” and we enjoyed every minute. The staff were friendly and professional which was appreciated. The host was also very responsive when we had questions. All in all, a great vacation.

My wife, adult son and I had an amazing stay. The house was spacious and the right on the beach which made for great morning walks. I can’t say enough about our gracious host Emma who gave us great resturant suggestions and connected us with a private chef who made us a delicious lunch and dinner. She even arraigned to get my wife’s winter coat back to us at the airport before we left — so we did not walk back to the snow in NY without it — all from the UK. Mahogany Pod was a perfect stay for us. The house surpassed expectations and was everything and more we could have hoped for in our beach front property. The house is welcoming, stylish, clean and equipped with everything you could want or need for your stay. The beach access and sunset views are a delight and listening to the waves from the bedrooms equally so. After weighing up hotel vs house the house proves to be the winning choice providing us so much space to be able to chill out around the home with plenty of space whilst still being together. The teenagers were very impressed with the fast wi-fi too! Emma and the team at Mahogany Pod were so helpful and made our stay hassle free.The welcome groceries were particularly helpful and most definitely helped us settle quickly into our holiday without the immediate need to be dashing to the supermarket. Overall, a delightful stay and we loved borrowing your home for a few days - thank you.

Our 9 day stay at Mahogany Pod was utterly perfect. It is truly the most beautiful vacation property that we have ever experienced, anywhere. This stunning, beautifully appointed, spotless home, with lovely living spaces, bedrooms and a breathtaking master suite, has every imaginable amenity, stunning balconies, 180 degree ocean views, and it sits on the most beautiful little beach accessed directly from its picture perfect gated yard. We spent hours here daily, swimming and snorkeling the beautiful reefs with gorgeous fish directly accessible right off of the beach; we watched spectacular sunrises and sunsets sipping homemade cocktails; and we dipped often in the refreshing plunge pool. We could not tear ourselves away from this perfect property, finding no need to go anywhere else, with all the property has to offer, including charming restaurants within a 5 minute walk! Best of all was Emma, the most lovely, responsive, gracious, and accommodating host that we have ever had the pleasure of working with, as were her wonderful housekeeper, groundskeeper and 24/7 security staff. Emma generously stocked the house with lovely treats and every essential we could need, and she further provided us with extremely helpful information about everything we could possibly want or need to do on the island. Our stay at Mahogany Pod was the best vacation that we have ever had, and we could not recommend it more highly! We cannot wait to return!

Lovely home with A views

We had a really great time staying at this home in Barbados. All of the bedrooms had nice bathrooms and a balcony. The primary bedroom was particularly spectacular, with plenty of space, a large bathroom and a separate changing room and closet.We really enjoyed the connection to the outdoors between the balconies and the garden. We spent most of our time outside. We used the small pool more than we expected. It was especially nice for my young son so I could keep him entertained while others were sleeping. We didn't really swim on the beach directly in front of the house due to the tides and some rocks, but there was a nice beach about a one minute walk to the left and we spent a lot of time there. It still felt like we had a beach right at the house. We had a great week and look forward to coming back! It was great for a family. As a reader, there were also numerous areas to settle in to read.

Great getaway!

Fantastic place! Right on the water with a gate to a small private beach that only a few people share. The backyard looks like a botanic garden with brightly colored plants/flowers and all of it is maintained perfectly. The vegetation near the water's edge is high enough that it acts as a completely opaque privacy screen from the beach so that's nice. The dip pool helps keep you cool too!This is possibly the cleanest rental I've ever seen and very spacious. The upstairs balconies (with chairs) that overlook the ocean/backyard are absolutely amazing. The bathrooms are all big too which is a huge plus. The kitchen downstairs is completely stocked - stove/oven, coffee and espresso maker, kettle, toaster, blender, you name it, they have it. Lots of clean cookware and dinnerware too and easy to get around if multiple people are cooking. Two things to be aware of: 1) the rental is on a main road but it's on the non-bedroom side of the house so the noise isn't bad. There's also a restaurant across the street that has occasional live music (only once in the week we were there) but that didn't bother us either. 2) there is no AC on the bottom level which is where the kitchen/dining room/living room is but there were a ton of strong fans though so it didn't bug us.Don't let any of that stop you though. This place is an almost literal paradise. I'd rent again in a heartbeat. Just do it!!!

Relaxing February Break

Mahogany Pod was a home run with our family of two adults and two teens, ranking as one of our very favorite holiday rentals. The property is spotless, nicely equipped, and has a superb layout for privacy and relaxation. Its central location on the coast made exploring Barbados or just dashing to the grocery store for a forgotten item a breeze. We particularly enjoyed the beautiful morning views with our coffee on the deck, the easy access to swimming and fun snorkeling, and the peacefulness of reading in the garden. Communication with Emma and her team was excellent from start to finish, and we really appreciated the thoughtful selection of starter groceries and delicious banana bread after a long day’s travel. Many thanks to you all for a wonderful stay.

We had a lovely relaxing stay. The property was nice, spacious and comfortable. It was well maintained and larger than the pictures suggest. Beach Paradise

My wife and I are just back from at week at Mahogany Pod. It sits directly on Paynes Bay with steps down to a beautiful beach. The house is immaculate and beautifully furnished. It has every amenity you could wish for. We had a fabulous week there cooking fresh fish on the BBQ from the local fish market (150 yds along the beach and ate at some of our favourite restaurants all a very short distance away. Emma the owner and the local management team were a joy to deal with and I couldn’t recommend the property high enough.

Lovely time

Our vacation started off poorly with missed connections and arrival delays but we stayed in constant contact with Emma and she ensured that members of our party were greeted when we arrived. The house was beautifully appointed and had everything we required for a lovely stay. Ryan, the house manager was attentive and arrived quickly when we locked ourselves out of the safe in our room. We couldn't have been more pleased with the house and the staff, and Barbados as a whole. Our group plans to return

BEWARE!!!

Before our arrival, Emma was helpful and accommodating. However we chose this property and paid a premium price for the holiday season due to the listing she posted. The listing stated the home had air conditioning. But it did not clarify that it was only available in the bedrooms!!! None of the living areas such as the living room, dining area, kitchen, or the en suite bathrooms had air!!! The master bathroom was so hot we avoided using it. When i addressed this with Emma the owner, her response was to change the ad, which was very deceptive, and did not change our horrible experience. Additionally the house lacks window screens, and with out air you are required to leave the shutters open for air flow, which invited bugs! The house manager Ryan admitted he knew this was an issue, and just had the house fumigated prior to our arrival. Despite the fumigation a roach walked right by my husband and Ryan when we entered. Next, The kitchen cabinets, and other cabinets reeked of mildew, which transferred into the silverware and dishes. We had to wash everything and leave out on the countertops throughout our stay. Tamica the house keeper even acknowledged this odor. While the property is beach front, beware the beach is not useable. You must walk to the beach next door to the property which is backed by loud traffic, not relaxing.In closing BEWARE! We we so disgusted and upset over our stay and would not recommend it to anyone else unless you love sweating.

Incredible location! Impeccable house!

We loved our stay in this beautiful home! The location is fabulous with direct beach access and close to great restaurants. It has a well-appointed kitchen with 3 ways to make coffee:-) We appreciated the delicious banana bread and other treats. No day was complete without a dip in the plunge pool - very refreshing on a hot day! The bedrooms feature private bathrooms (awesome water pressure!) and balconies where we enjoyed the morning light, hummingbirds and coffee. The sunsets were spectacular! There is a nice yard with a grill and dining table. Also, sun loungers. We appreciated the fantastic list of recommended restaurants and the recommendation to take a catamaran cruise - we went with Silver Moon and it was a fabulous experience! I would be so happy to return to Barbados and this house!

Excellent Birthday Celebration

My family and I stayed here for my birthday. The host was extremely helpful, even before we arrived. She helped with transportation, that we used the entire week. She set us up with the chef, who was amazing! And she provided recommendations on places to go on the island. The accommodations were just as advertised, and we loved that each bedroom had an en suite and balcony. Everyone was comfortable had their own space. The easy access to the beach was just icing on the cake! Thank you Emma.

How relaxed can one be!

Wonderful property right on the beach which feels like your own slice of paradise. Local buses right outside the front of the property to transport you anywhere along the coast. Villa exceptionally maintained and equipped with everything you could possibly need. Beautiful home from home decor throughout.
