    This apartment was so bad we had to leave after the first night. We tried to get reimbursed for the remaining 4 nights that we paid for and our host refused to do so. The whole apartment was dirty. When we arrived we couldn’t get the heat to work and a window had been left open. We were very cold, toes and hands hurting. A blind fell down in the bedroom, when trying to close it. The host sent her son over. It took him a while to get the blind back on, it was clearly broken. And the heat took an hour before it warmed up. There was soot on my sheets, that had fallen from the above heater, on the wall. I couldn’t sleep on them. The apartment was not as it appeared in the photos, everything was much older and dingier and it was smaller than it appeared. It was advertised with the wrong address and the day before we left for our trip the host switched our mode of communication to What’s App, claiming that she was having issues with the VRBO site, when it clearly was working properly. I want to be reimbursed for the remaining 4 nights that I didn’t use because the apartment was inhabitable.

    Be aware, the address listed on the vrbo website is not the actual address. We booked this apartment thinking it was close to the subway. We were planning to not rent a car and would be taking the subway. The apartment is on the outskirts of Harlem, we were ok with this until we learned that it is not close to the subway. The address that was given to us by the host is 0.5 miles away from the nearest subway. By the time we learned of this, it was already too late to cancel. I expressed my disappointment with the host, she stated that it was vrbo’s fault that the address was not accurate and she offered to pay for the uber ride from the subway to/from the apartment when we arrived from the airport and when we were headed back to the airport. I sent my uber receipts to her, crickets. She saw my message and never bothered to reply or keep her promise of reimbursing me. In addition to the inaccurate address and being far from the subway. When we arrived, the apartment was not what we expected. We found someone else’s hair in the bathroom and the bathtub/shower was full of grime that obviously had not been cleaned for a long time. The apartment is on the second floor, the walls are thin and conversations from other tenants can be heard, along with Police/ambulance sirens, and every morning we were woken up at 7am to religious chanting. Do not rent this place, host is dishonest and the place is disgusting. We couldn’t afford to rent another place, otherwise we would have left.

    Great communication from the Host. Only 5-15 min walk to multiple subway stations. There was a great pizza place 1 block away and 2 different bigger grocery stores about a 5 min walk. Mattress was comfortable. Even included an air mattress to allow for additional bedding.

    We were given one location by Vrbo and the apartment was over two long blocks farther from the metro station than advertised. It wasn’t even in the circle shown for potential location. It was nearly a full mile round trip extra compared to what we were sent at booking by VRBO.

    We left after seeing the property. There was a huge hair ball on the living room floor, freezer and oven were dirty. This left me concerned about linens. The bed in the game room is not adequate for an adult. It was two cushions you pushed together. Outside was loud and dirty. We were approached individuals that made us uncomfortable when outside. I sure didn't want or expect to pay for this and a 2nd place to stay.

    There are several things that concerned me about this stay. There are a few things that were out side of the abilities of the host, and then there are some that could make a big impact on this day.Things that are outside of the hosts ability;The neighborhood (as a Midwestern white woman I was very uncomfortable every time I stepped outside of the vrbo)There is very little hot water.The street noise is nonstop.The deli downstairs plays loud music early in the morning and late at night.Things that are within the control of the host;The place was very dirty (windows were covered in sticky film, the first thing I had to do was sweep, each, and every air unit was coated with dust and some sort of goo, there were dirty towels hanging on the door when we arrived, there was no dish soap to be found, and all the dishes were covered in a film, the floor had Bear footprints all over it, the dust pan had the previous person’s garbage in it, and so on)I think the biggest thing that caught my attention was the address change two days before I was set to arrive. Being from the Midwest, I take 100% responsibility not knowing the neighborhood that I was renting, however, when I booked this reservation, I was under the impression it was at a specific location. Two days before we departed. I got a text message that said. “ the address is incorrect. Here is the correct address.” Huge red flag…

    Overall, it was a good stay. Getting in and out of the apartment was very easy. However, I am unclear as to why the actual address was different than the one that was listed. It was about 3 blocks east, closer to Harlem River. I don’t want to make any assumption but I would suggest to list the actual address so as to be transparent with the customer. Also, that sofa bed in the game room was extremely uncomfortable, like sleeping on metal. It was so bad that I went as far as to buy an air mattress for the apartment. I left it there for future stays as a courtesy. Lastly, the tip of the shower faucet where you lift up to switch to the shower head was broken. We still managed to take showers.We still managed to make it to the subway, but it was further than we thought given the address change. The neighborhood itself was ok for the most part, definitely noisy. I did like having the bodega right next to us, as well as a market and other places to eat. The deli below us played loud music a lot however.Overall a good stay.

    The host was amazing to deal with and when you are doing a trip to NYC that helps a lot. Place was super clean! I don’t think you can find a better value in Manhattan. Honestly book this place. 2 bedrooms. It’s not too cramped. They keep it very clean. And the AC unit actually works and keeps you cool. I have stayed in a lot of places in Manhattan and for the money this is top notch!

    We had a lovely stay here for 3 nights in July. The space is in Spanish Harlem and provided us with good access to the 4, 5, and 6 trains to go to tht Bronx and lower Manhattan. The space was clean and updated. The air conditioners kept us cool despite high temperatures. The beds and pillows were comfortable. There is a washer and dryer in the hallway which you can use for a few dollars paid through an app you can download.

    Super cozy stay in a 2 bedroom playroom apartment

    I For a short family trip with friends, this apartment was a great choice. Comfortable, convenient, and reasonably priced for New York City. Would definitely consider staying again! The check-in process could have been smoother. We had a bit of confusion with the keypad instructions, but the host responded quickly. Host is very approachable and very well connected. Excellent location—close to public transportation, shops, restaurants, and major attractions. We could walk to a few places, which was a big plus.

    Lots of room for a family

    There are many upsides to this property. (1) The host was very responsive and helpful (2) Check in was easy. (3) Having 3 bedrooms, a sitting area and a small kitchen was wonderful (4) the games were a bonus. Now, there are a few things to know. Not cons, just information (1) The subway station is a solid 10 minute walk away. (2). This area of East Harlem is diverse, working class, and full of families. We actually loved the neighborhood and everyone was so nice. (Check out La Tropezienne Bakery for amazing morning pastries, Effy’s Kitchen for sit-down breakfast, and MaliNee for delicious Thai food).
