We wanted two bedrooms and two bathrooms as we were staying with our teens. The showers were basically unusable - less water than a public shower. Sleeping with the portable air con machines on (machines that are at least 30 years old) was impossible. Obviously this is a very old motel but expectation is while the paint is peeling and the bedroom doors don’t shut - basic amenities like air con and a shower should absolutely be a given. While staff are very lovely the fact we were paying for bathrooms that really under any normal circumstances are in no way considered habitable. Only stay here if you are fully aware of the state of the bathrooms/aircon.

Staff and location are highlights of the stay. Have appropriate expectations helps. This is an old Los Angeles apartment complex that was turned into a hotel. As such it's older and dated which is also part of it's charm.

pros: the rooms are spacious, which is good for families that have kid's, my children loved that there was an ice cream machine and a coke machine and how nice the staff were, and that there were free snacks. Cons: the floor was a bit dirty and the tables were kinda sticky, and the things are a bit old.

Charming 1950s hotel just off Hollywood Boulevard. So it's very convenient and walkable to the main street. Warm and friendly staff and nice touches like complimentary snacks, soft serve, soft drinks, breakfast, laundry. And heated pool!

The staff at this hotel deserve a 5 star rating. They are the best. They can’t do enough for you. From the free snacks, breakfast, and free laundy they can’t do enough for you. Just amazing. The actual room though is less than impressive. The floor is all uneven, the toilet leaks and the shower blocks every time you shower. We could hear every footstep of the people above us which was frustrating while trying to sleep. If you want amazing service with awesome treats stay here. But if you are wanting modern nice rooms this isn’t the place for you.

Best customer service! Run down rooms, no elevator. If you have luggages, you will have to carry it upstairs. But I guess the proximity to walk of fame and the free amenities makes up for it. I hope they will do renovations soon. Love to be back and stay here again!

Excellent stay at the Magic Castle. Staff were amazing. Super friendly and helpful. All the services on offer makes this hotel a fantastic choice to stay at. Free laundry, snacks, soft serve, popsicles and the best popcorn we have ever had. Hotel has aged over time but it is a charming Hollywood motel that has so much character and a wonderful management team behind it.

This is our new go-to spot in L.A. Is it the newest place around? No, but it far more than makes up for that with character and personality. Speaking of character and personality, the front desk manager, Kevin, has both in abundance. We’ve been traveling as a couple for close to 50 years, and I’ve never been greeted in such a fun, welcoming manner. He made us feel like royalty. When you encounter positive customer service it’s so refreshing, and Kevin was amazing. We’re already planning our next trip so we can stay here again!

The front desk was the star of the show. All the little freebies and perks they have that are not typical of most hotels like free snacks and a "popsicle hotline" at the pool where you pick up the phone and ask for a popsicle and someone comes and hands you a one. The room prices are quite reasonable. It's a unique place to stay and will stay there next time we visit LA if there's availability.
