Clayton Cottage had plenty of room for our family of 5. We never felt crowded or on top of each other. The cottage is well stocked with everything you could need. I feel like it was better than described! When we stayed, the weather was pretty cold (20’s at night, 40’s during the day) and we were not cold inside- the central heat worked well and there were also wall heaters in the bedrooms and plenty of blankets. The beds were super soft, almost too soft for us, but that’s personal preference so don’t let that deter you. The cottage was easy to find, even arriving in the dark (just note the GPS will likely tell you to turn just before the cottage) and there is a paved circular driveway. The cottage is close to town (but not walking distance) and there is a grocery store and multiple restaurants and/or fast food close by. The cabin also has plenty of pots/pans/dishes if you want to cook. We did a combination of cooking and eating out- Universal Joint and Fortfy Pi were awesome. We took side trips to Black Rock Mountain State Park, Tallulah Gorge State Park, Helen, and Scaly Mountain, NC for snow tubing. The cottage was a great home base for all of these adventures. It is on a road where the speed limit is 55- there is not much traffic, but definitely something to be mindful of if you have small children and want to be able to let them play outside. And also when you’re making a left out of the driveway sometimes people were coming up really fast. Overall we really enjoyed our time there and would definitely recommend it.
