The Writer's Retreat on Heartstone Country Retreat farm is an authentic one bedroom rustic, modernized log cabin dating from the early 1900s & sits on 250 acres of farmland in the Shenandoah Valley. It is fully outfitted with quality bedding, bath towels, family style toiletries, coffee, teas & a welcome gift from us - a bottle of wine. Outdoors you will find a gas grill, Adirondack chairs, picnic table/umbrella, a sweet sitting porch & a tranquil peaceful setting. Shenandoah Heaven!

We had a lovely stay at the “Writer’s Cabin!” It is small but so cozy and perfect for two. We had rain at first but when the skies cleared we went for a walk and explored the Chessie Trail. A lovely walk along the river. Hosts are very gracious. Easy check in and check out.

Perfect respite spot
My husband and I were attending a festival nearby and planned our stay several months in advance. We were attracted by the authenticity of the cabin and its peaceful location. Retreat is the perfect description! As life would have it, there were some bumps in our lives that shook us deeply. The cabin was the perfect place for a reset. Quite, calming, beautiful inside and out. The walk to Mt. Grace was a perfect way to put some things in perspective. Thank you for sharing your beautiful property with us.

Absolutely fantastic cabin and getaway trip

Tranquil and thoughtfully appointed. . .
We enjoyed our stay at the Writer's Retreat cabin for Thanksgiving 2018. The area is beautiful, the property is well maintained and the owner and manager are both kind and considerate. The cabin stayed warm, even in sub-freezing temperatures, and we loved the visiting birds every morning. Thank you Antonia and Lesley for our wonderful stay!
