Went for wife’s 40th birthday. Gardens and grounds are lovely, if a little tricky to access.
Room was in ok condition, decor looked a little tired but clean, fresh and acceptable.
What was NOT acceptable was the exceptionally thin walls between our room and next. When you could hear the next room using the bathroom clearly and also being woke at midnight to the sound of a group of drunken guests next door it does ruin the stay.
I can’t stress how clearly we could hear them, we we woke we at first thought people had came into our room.
We rang to reception who then rang/called the room and they did quieten eventually but it did take the shine off our stay over and took us to 1am to get back to sleep.
Tired the next morning we got a 1/2 apology from the reception.
The app wouldn’t let us book dinner at the restaurant and there was no tables free when we arrived, ate at the bar. Expensive enough for what it was.
Would look elsewhere in future which is pity as it has stunning grounds and potential.
