"As frequent travelers to 5-star, adults-only resorts in Mexico, this was our first time trying Secrets, and as Hyatt members, we had high expectations. We booked just one night to test the property before moving to another resort, but even that was enough to be disappointed.
The lobby and room initially looked modern and clean, but the room lacked basic functionality. The hair dryer didn’t work, there were no proper hand towel hooks, and there were very limited outlets or USB ports near the beds. The shower was large but poorly designed, with weak pressure and inconsistent temperature. We were also not provided a luggage rack, and there was no follow-up after requesting one.
Food and service were the most disappointing. Poolside drinks were watered down, and the fish tacos were overly salty and flavorless. Dinner at the steakhouse was worse—both steaks were overcooked, chewy, and lacked flavor. The server never checked on us or acknowledged that we left most of our meals untouched.
The buffet for breakfast and lunch was average with limited variety.
Overall, this felt more like a 3–4 star experience, not a 5-star resort. Unfortunately, we would not return, and this experience makes us hesitant to try other Secrets locations."
