We had an absolutely exceptional stay at Head of the Pond in Water Mill, and I cannot say enough about the experience, particularly the care and attention brought by Monika, the owner.
We stayed in the two-bedroom cottage by the pond, and from the moment we arrived, it was clear this property is operated at a level far beyond a typical bed and breakfast. The cottage was in pristine condition—immaculately clean, beautifully maintained, and thoughtfully appointed with all the amenities you would expect from a fine hotel. Every detail felt intentional.
What truly set this stay apart was the fully stocked kitchen, complete with an abundant supply of quality food and drinks. It’s a level of generosity and hospitality you rarely encounter. These are the kinds of touches that guests remember and that bring them back.
Monika clearly runs this property with pride and integrity. Unlike many businesses that begin with high standards but gradually cut corners, she has remained committed to doing things the right way. It shows in every aspect of the experience—from the condition of the accommodations to the overall atmosphere of care and comfort.
A special note for those considering when to visit: winter in the Hamptons is a hidden gem. While it may be chilly, the beauty and tranquility of the area remain, and you have the added benefit of enjoying a luxurious stay.
