This property is huge and has an attractive exterior. After checking in with Aretha, who was extremely nice and helpful with giving us a connecting room with a family member who was flying in from another state later that evening, we entered one of the frequent and convenient elevators. We were given a corner room, which was angular and provided unexpected extra room and felt spacious. The valet attendants were very prompt and nice, especially when we left an item in the vehicle that was just parked and had to be retrieved soon after checking in. The concierge, who I wish I remembered his name, gave us a lot of helpful information including a sheet he made labeling the restaurants that were all in walking distance from the hotel. We were a little surprised at the lack of shampoo, etc. in the smallish bathroom, especially since 3 people were registered to stay in the room. However, more supplies were immediately brought up at our request. We went to check out the pool, but were shocked when we ended up getting locked out of the hotel! We had to walk around in the dark to get back to an entrance. I supposed that won't happen once the pool opens for the season, but it was definitely a first and we thought we were trapped. I would definitely stay in this hotel again when I'm not staying in DC by the traditional sights. It felt safe to be walking outside, even in the dark.

The property and rooms were beautiful but staff was awful! I left my ring in my room and called at 1pm telling the staff I was on my way back and I left my ring in the room. They informed me the room has not been cleaned yet. We arrived back at 2:30 pm and the room was just cleaned and the house keeper took my ring!! She was wearing it and hid her hand and shut the door when we asked about it!!! Security opened the door and it was gone!! Off her hand! I’m very outraged and it was my engagement ring! When I called they couldn’t of sent someone from security to at least grab it up there?! I know it was my fault for forgetting it but I called!

The rates are very overpriced. They think they’re a fancy hotel, however this outdated place should be at best 85$/night. I cannot stand price gouging. It really should be illegal. The room is in desperate need of updating. The staff is very unfriendly and rude. At times you felt like you were annoying them if you asked where something was. The place is very confusing, there’s plenty of staff chatting with each other or on their cell phone.

Spending Christmas in DC with familyi

Pros: Location and services
Cons: Don’t change a thing
Inspite of being away from home for Christmas, our short stay at the Marriot Wardman Park more than compensatesd. We well greeted and well taken care of by all staff from the doorman, the staff and above all we received anupgrade of our room and services. the location is ideal and there are plenty of street parking. One can also access the M almost on site and a easy ride to the airport or DuPont circle for shopping. we have been coming to this hotel two or three times a year for over 10+ years since grandchildren attend school close-by for grandparents day etc. we highly recommend this Hotel.

Mouse trap

f I could rate this hotel less than a one star, I would. Upon arrival in my first room, I found a mouse trap with something in it. Serious health code violation, not to mention extremely dangerous with a child in my room. The front desk showed zero concern and the bell staff had no urgency to help relocate us. The situation was handled in an unprofessional manner. I called downstairs several times only to be transferred to no one, placed on hold on multiple occasions and then disconnected. Management never returned my phone calls and would only address the issue three days later when I refused to leave the front desk until someone finally spoke to me. Separately, my second room had a sink and a bath tub that remained backed up. Nothing in the room had been properly cleaned to a point that I would feel comfortable using, so I cleaned it myself. Public restrooms were filthy, duck taped and soap dispensers were empty. This hotel is disgusting and the customer service is even worse.

Beautiful location. Terrible experience

First room had a mouse. To "make it right" they moved us to a smaller room at the end of a long dark hallway. Parking garage was filthy. At 45.00 a night to self park you'd think they would at least empty the garbage but the same rotting food was there for multiple days. One bright point was a front desk attendant Gerard noticed we had received no compensation for our hassle and provided concierge lounge passes for out last day.

A Murphy bed?

Pros: The staff was very pleasant.
The wing of the room that I stayed in is going to be converted into condos, so it's clear why it was neglected. The decor was extremely dated, musty, and the bed was a Murphy bed (pulls down from a wall mount). I didn't check in until 1 am, so I was too tired to make a fuss. I'm a Marriott club member and more than a little surprised that I was given a room that harkens to the 1920s. My colleagues stayed in the modern part of the hotel and thought that it was adequate.

Pros: The lobby.
Cons: More staffing for the restaurant, Stone's Throw.
Location: Location was great.
The hotel was too big for us. Also, we were supposed to have breakfast as part of our stay, but we stood in line for about 20 minutes and gave up! We were not a "Stone's Throw" from the line.
