Very good location. Reasonably priced. Cleanliness could be improved. Food quality in restaurant below could be better.

Nice location for downtown walking

Great location for touring all the sites. It was an easy walk to get to our big bus tour from the hotel. It is an older hotel, though. They say they are the oldest continually operating hotel in DC. Since it is an older hotel, it doesn’t have the modern feel, but we found that it took care of all of needs.

We were excited to be on the top (11th) floor, until we saw how tiny our room was. It was tucked in a corner and was tinier than the broom closet next to it. The room was clean, but we couldnt regulate the temperature ourselves. There was a ceiling fan we couldnt get to work. The shower was terrible, temperature was impossible to regulate and cycled from scalding hot to freezing cold. Common areas were filthy. They didnt even vacuum the elevator. There is no "lobby" to speak of. Just a small public foyer with no place to sit other than old, re-purposed office chairs. The smell coming from Harry's restaurant smells like mold and old mop water. This could be such a charming old hotel of the owners would put some aesthetics & elbow-grease into it, but it's hay-day seems to be over. That being said . . . the location and convenience and price couldnt be beat. I'd only stay there again on a pinch. I'd pay and extra $100 per nite to stay somewhere with higher cleanliness standards.

Walk to everything

We booked this hotel last minute and took advantage of a sale on our room. We were pleased to find that our room for 4 adults was actually two rooms for the price of one! We enjoyed separate bedrooms, separate bathrooms, as well as two tvs. Yes, the hotel is dated and if you're looking for luxury perhaps a higher priced option would suit you better. We simply needed a clean comfortable place to sleep for a night and were delighted with Harrington's proximity to the points of interest in DC as well as being close to the Metro-rail.

Down with renovation

Pros: Location and cost.
Cons: When one asks for a wake up call, and they say they will do so, they should do so. In other words, I fear for those who do not bring an alarm clock.
Location: Well, it is only a short walk to Pennsylvania Avenue where you can risk arrest by paintballing the word "Trump" on the Trump International Hotel.
Reminds me of the room shared by Mr. and Mrs. Smith in Bogota, but not as big.

Just what I expected

It's an older property. I picked it for the price and location to the national monuments - not for the décor or amenities. It was exactly as I expected. The rooms were comfortable, the staff was nice and helpful, and the price was reasonable compared to the fancier hotels nearby. I loved that I could take the Blue line from the DCA airport to the hotel - the Metro Center station is only a block and a half away. I didn't need a car at all. There are lots of restaurants nearby. My room had a hair dryer, iron, and refrigerator. Free wifi. Flat screen TV. What more could you want? lol The cons are: the hotel is older, my last day one of the elevators was acting wonky, and sometimes scalding hot water would periodically burst out while I was taking a shower. But none of that ruined my stay or would prevent me from coming back.

great location.

Good, clean, near a Metro Center station, great location, centrally located, very modest price, inexpensive breakfast on site. Not luxurious, but so what?
