Away from the tourist bustle

The staff went above and beyond to accommodate us even though our trip dates changed last minute. The room was well appointed with the bed surprisingly comfortable and bedding soft. The location was just perfect, in a beautiful neighborhood, away from the hustle of the typical tourist spots, but close enough to everything.

Boutique hotel in nice neighborhood

Pros: Friendly, helpful staff. Blu-rays, free to borrow. Location, not downtown. Near Full House house. Clean & has all we need. Quiet in evening/night.
Cons: Heard people above us stomping around a couple times. Blu-ray player didn't always work. Construction on street was loud in AM. A/C would be a bonus.
Location: Full House house, Clement St, Sacramento St shopping Quick bus/Lyft away: GG Bridge, GG Park, Wharf, AT&T Stadium, Chinatown, Haight-Ashbury, etc.
After a dismal airport experience, the boutique Laurel Inn lifted our spirits. We arrived two hours before check-in starts, and the man at the desk was very accommodating. He checked our room in case it was ready, and finding out it wasn't, offered to hold our luggage behind the counter and bring it to our room when it was ready. He gave us a map and highlighted lunch and shopping options within walking distance - we wanted to use our legs after 8 hours of planes/cars. Coming back to Laurel Inn after a Thai lunch on Clement St, our room was ready with our luggage in it. The room overlooked Presidio Ave and looked just like the picture of a two double bed room from the website. Nice big bathroom. The beds were cozy. Note that there is no A/C, and that's not a bad thing. In San Francisco, all you need is a window to open or close, since the constant breeze will cool the room nicely and closing the window traps enough heat to keep it warm. I was a bit nervous since I have allergies, but my sinuses were better in SF than back home. Throughout our stay, the staff were great. Breakfast muffins and pastries were tasty and never ran out (6-10 AM). There's an ice machine and soda/snacks vending machines just outside the lobby. For getting around SF, there are two bus stops right outside, though I recommend Lyft, especially if you have a promo credit (GOOAK). Some shopping and dining within easy walking distance (0.5 to 1.5 miles). I'd stay there again!

Dear Erik, Thank you for the warm and uplifting feed-back; we are truly grateful to have been able to create such a positive experience for you; on a side note, I wish to mention, we will undergo a refresh of our property later this year, which does include plans for a/c for guests who prefer. We hope to welcome you back again for visit very soon!

Superb location!! Staff friendly.....

Pros: Location, location, location. Complimentary pastries, cookies, coffee, team
Cons: Rooms need a refresh
Location: Very close to Fillmore street and restaurants, shops and Mollie Stone's grocery....bus transportation right outside the door.
Visiting our daughter in Pac Heights and this location was superb. Rooms were clean.....could use some refreshing in terms of decor, etc. Location really brought in the value ...

NOT WHAT WAS EXPECTED OF THE ROOM RESERVATIONS

Pros: The Staff and convenience of the parking structure.
Cons: Yes, update the rooms and make them more tourist friendly.
Location: Walking distance to everything, which was very convenient, great coffee shop (Ella's) and bus transportation.
Extremely noisy, and the room was very old and not accessible as expected, especially the bathroom, where it was extremely cold, no heat and no cabinets or drawers to place toiletries. Also noted that towels and wash clothes had stains, and had to request clean ones from housekeeping. Overall, would prefer to stay in a Hotel, Motel and/or Inn that has all of the modern amenities and conveniences for travelers. Have travelled to San Francisco on numerous occasions, and can honestly say that the Laurel Inn should be classified as a two (2) star hotel.

Like walking into a funeral parlor.

The two receptionists that I met, a lady and a man, both acted like I was bothering them when I asked for assistance. The Lobby is nice, but the atmosphere is depressing. Reminded me of a funeral parlor, receptionists sad faces fit the scene. There is NO restaurant! If you are unable to walk you're pretty much screwed. No fridge in rooms! Ice located in garage area, lemonade and cookies are a joke for the price of this overnight stay. Shame on you Joie De Vivre Hotels

Great location - away from tourist area

Pros: perfect location
Cons: Poor breakfast, older building so you can hear your neighbors
We really enjoyed being walking distance to Golden Gate Park. Great place to walk or bike. Location is ideal. Hotel is modern. Definitely revamped. The only thing they should do is put more effort into their bathrooms. The rest of the room was great - definietly remodeled. Should have done the same with the bathrooms. Great location though so worth staying. Was clean.

Room was excellent... everything else subpar.

Pros: Free Internet, Quiet
Cons: Nothing close, Poor breakfast
Our room had a great view, was spacious, and had comfortable beds. Other than that there were no amenities. Asked front desk for nearby restaurant recommendations and was handed a book of restaurants. Service was below average in a great building.
