Loved the area, the staff was wonderful and the room was clean - Be sure to bring and eye mask and earplugs. I like my room pitch black for sleeping but the hall lights leaked through the space under and around the door. The only real fault is that there was a musty smell (like an old home) that was so strong that it came home on my bags and some of my clothes. I used peppermint oil while I was there for the sheets and blankets - I keep it in my bag at all times when traveling for just such occasions and to repel bugs. Walking distance to so many great stores and restaurants... I can't name them all. Bonus there is a cute Coffee shop right next door. The Catholic elementary school is just a block or so away so the area is pretty darn safe.

I had a very disappointing stay at this hotel and would not return. The environment felt loud and unsafe, there were people screaming late at night, and a random person repeatedly knocked on our door, which was very unsettling. Soundproofing is practically nonexistent. we could clearly hear people in the rooms on both sides of us, as well as every time someone used the restroom nearby. The beds were extremely uncomfortable. One of the beds had a noticeable dip in the middle, making it very difficult to sleep. On top of that, we could not properly control the air conditioning, which added to the discomfort throughout the night. Check-in was also frustrating. The front desk attendant seemed very flustered while checking us in and juggling phone calls, and she came across as having an attitude when speaking on the phone. We booked our stay from Friday to Sunday, but after one night of barely sleeping, we ended up booking a different hotel for the remainder of our trip and accepted losing the final night we had already paid for. Overall, this was an uncomfortable and disappointing experience.

Location location location. Great location right at Chinatown's heart. Walking distance to pretty much everything. Ben at the front desk was polite and helpful! The rooms were pretty clean!

Grant Plaza is a gem for a night or more offering the upmost simple comfort and entryway to SF. Local merchants are personal and the locals are friendly. Catholic Cathedrals are so very central and if not for the Faith, do so visit for the history and architecture and the culture that built such a beautiful history of CA. It's all still alive!
