Old Classic

It's a great old hotel, but $250 for the night seemed excessive.

Nice boutique hotel

Nice hotel, unique, romantic. Lobby feels like Profesor Dumbledorf's library. We drove by twice, no sign outside, we just happened to finally see the lobby and recognize from photos to find the place. The city parking garage is right across street so easy to park yourself, valet keeps cars there too so you might as well park yourself. No bathtub was a small disappointment (they did not advertise one) especially since the bathroom is huge. They need more towel/clothes hooks in there. One negative was that being small - room service closed at night until 6:30 so because we were catching an early flight no chance for breakfast. Price was right for a nice hotel so we are overall happy.

Great Location

Pros: Location & professional and friendly staff. The bar is a fun place to hang out.
Location: Great location in proximity to the state capitol, Cesar Chavez Park, and great restaurants.
Hotel is a located within walking distance to public transportation, coffee shops, the capitol, great restaurants and night life, and Cesar Chavez Park (always something fun going on there). The bar is a great place to enjoy a custom cocktail or local beer and have a bite. The hotel staff is friendly, warm, and very professional. The pricing was reasonable considering the location. With a hotel of this age and in this location, one should be aware that rooms are small but comfortable. The bathroom was very nice. They charge for WiFi, there is no pool, and you will be charged $28 per day for valet parking (you can self park at the garage nearby). When closing a curtain in the evening, we found that one panel was stained with either coffee or something worse. Upon further inspection it appeared that someone may have tried to wash the panel (as was evident by about six inches of shrinkage in this curtain). I notified the front desk the next morning and they were appropriately apologetic. I hope they replace it as it really was disgusting.

Great stately hotel

We loved this Hotel--every member of the staff went out of their way to make our stay special.  We had a corner room that was well decorated, nicely appointed and had great views in two directions and a large bathroom.  Great bar on the entry floor.

Great little hotel

Loved staying at The Citizen Hotel! Great customer service and a very comfy room!  We arrived early and all of our rooms were ready, and they checked us in right away. The front desk even helped us out and made us appointments at the local nail salon for mani/\pedis later that day! Our bed was comfy and cocktails at the Grange were pricey but awesome. Would definitely stay here again! As a note, this is a great location to walk to bar/restaurants, but in return you hear some of the racket of people walking home late at night. Just ask for a higher floor and it shouldn't be a problem.

Wonderful old-Sacramento vibe

Pros: Close restaurants, Quiet
Like a trip back in time, except for the flat panel TVs. Old town Sacramento feel draws you in. Great dining nearby adds value. Too bad about the speed of WIFI - sloooow. However, the entire experience is a good one, so if in the State Capital, consider the citizen.

Great atmosphere and welcoming environment. A good nite's stay.

Cons: No free Internet
This hotel will give you the feel of Old Sacramento. Great interior structure and a fantastic restaurant attached. Be careful if going out in the evening, however.
