So Disgusting
Unfortunately the poor reviews are correct. The “unobstructed views” were not accurate as the windows are so dirty you cant even get a clear view. That wouldn't be an issue if that was my only complaint because outside on the deck it truly is beautiful. Unfortunately about the only thing outside that is nice is the view because all the furniture is cracked and rusty. The hot tub (that i was SO looking forward to) is covered with a tarp. Due to the cleanliness of the rest of the property we didnt trust the hot tub so we didnt even get to enjoy it. Owner said cover is coming, just takes 6-8 weeks. He appears to have said that to a renter back in May. Hmm. The toilet on the first floor wouldnt flush. It took two days to get someone out there. He gave us 15 minute notice and we weren't there. I wasn't crazy about not having the option of being there while someone else was there with all of our things. The room I stayed in smelled like something had died in one of the closets. One bathroom reeked of pee. Freezer had stuff spilled in it. The kitchen sink had grime and water streaks like it hadn't been cleaned in ages. I ended up buying gloves and a scrubber to clean it just so we could function. I brought all of this up to the owner the first day we were there and he said he would refund the cleaning fee. Months later, no refund to that. So unfortunate that the rating is so good but beware that this rental is just going down hill.

Wintergreen Weekend
The house was perfect for a group of teenage (older) boys. Plenty of space for everybody! Well equipped kitchen made it easy to feed them all :). Location was great. Quick, easy drive down to the slopes. A few notes to help plan your stay. Definitely bring your own towels (we only had 6 total for 13 people!) and sheets. Ours (in the master) definitely had not been changed :(. I always bring my own, just in case, and I am so glad I did. Lastly, there is NOT a working grill as the description says. Again, perfect space for a group of older teenage boys. Would stay again.

Outstanding mountain views
My family stayed at this home for a week and it provided outstanding views of the mountains and wildlife. The home does have some some cosmetic issues such as damage to the screened in porch which is likely from racoons, they visited nearly every night and the grill and hot tub need to be cleaned. The property is located about 15 minutes from a beautiful park called lake Sherando which has nature tails, a swimming lake and creek and 45-60 minutes from places to go river tubing. There is a very small market in Wintergreen for groceries which has a limited inventory, if families plan on cooking while there I recommend stocking up on groceries at a larger supermarket because the larger stores are at least 30 minutes away. Overall I would recommend this property to those looking for a pet friendly home with beautiful views of the mountains and nearby outdoor activities.

Beautiful setting
The house was situated in a beautiful setting with great views among the surrounding mountains. Perfect spot for the July 4th fireworks at Wintergreen. The condition of the house was “rough” in spots - primarily the back screened deck. The charcoal grill was inoperable. But overall was in good shape. Lots of steps down to the house from the parking area.

unacceptable!
We arrived late in the evening so the views weren't available, because that is the ONLY thing that was good about this place, & we didn't see them until the next day. When we arrived it was very cold in the house, so we turned the heat on but there were two windows that were open and we were not able to shut them because the cranks were broken. We only brought a few items in thinking we would get the rest of our items the next day but we actually left in the morning and never returned. We brought items in and set them on the counter which was all sticky and had not been cleaned. we had frozen items which we put in the freezer which was covered with an orange sticky substance which was all over in the ice drawer. There was coffee still in the pot. It stated it was a 4 bedroom which is incorrect, there is a 3rd bedroom that has a laddered loft in it which has additional sleeping but it is IN the 3rd bedroom and although we are all family my son was bringing his 4 children and my daughter who came with her husband did NOT want to stay in the same room with her brother and his family, she wanted her privacy. The beds had only a flat sheet on the mattress and a blanket covering it. There was mouse droppings in the kitchen drawers on the silverware The screenroom had 3/4 of the screens torn out, the hottub cover was torn and filthy I contacted the owner, requested a refund, I was told NO, he would refund the cleaning fee only if I gave a positive review Not worth the price!

I feel duped
Overall, this property did not feel worth the price and the description of a 4 bedroom house felt inaccurate. First the good: the views were fantastic and the deck was well situated to provide nice views. The location was great - a short drive to the ski slopes and fitness center. We liked the fireplace, the foosball table and the downstairs rumpus room was a nice bonus for kids. The bad: the "4th bedroom" was a loft area, that was part of another bedroom, and which required a ladder climb that was quite scary (good for mountain climbers and teenagers that are fearless). The place felt somewhat dirty and needs a deep clean (we moved a chair to play a board game and there were wrappers and dirt under the chair; definitely don't look under the couch cushions). There were not enough towels. The bedding was not great - the master bedroom bed sagged in the middle and the gazillion sheets strewn about all felt like they were from the 80s. The kitchen was well stocked in some aspects, but lacked basics like a non-stick pan and measuring spoons. Overall the house felt weird, like there had been a smaller house originally and a larger house built on top of it (weird interior windows with crank openers, etc.) - which likely explains the lack of a half bath on the main floor (2 of 3 bathrooms were ensuite w/only the downstairs bathroom separate). The hot tub was somewhat dirty w/few jets. The property manager only gave the key code 2 hours before check in. Wouldn't rent it again.

Winter Weekend for 10
We really enjoyed the open spaces and room to spread out. Furniture was comfy. The kitchen appliances and cookware were good quality and made cooking for a large group enjoyable. The hot tub was greatly enjoyed. We wish there had been more towels, or instructions to bring our own. There were 10 of us and only 9 towels. We did see a few cobwebs but no critters. The diswasher bottow drawer is missing many of the wheels and needs to be fixed. Overall, it was a great weekend and we will be back!

Great time making memories
The property fit our needs perfectly. I have been renting houses at Wintergreen the last 4 years as it is a Christmas present, I give to my kids and grandkids. Kitchen was fully equipped. Everyone enjoyed the hot tub! The negative there was no lighting from the parking area to the house and very dark, there was a light on a tree, but it didn't work and the solar lights on the stairway were not bright. We could not use the driveway for two days (unless you had 4-wheel drive) because of the snow and ice, there was a shovel and rake, and my sons cleared it enough so we could use it the last day we were there to pack up and the weather warmed up enough to melt it too. We did have adequate parking at the top of the driveway. Suggest that the owner get the outside lighting working. Would definitely rent again but it seems our group gets larger every year and we will need a bigger house next year.
