Loved staying at the Aldrovandi!

Cons: Internet
Location: Villa Borghese Park Bioparco Zoo Piazza del Popolo (15-min walk from the hotel if you're up for it!)
Staff were very accommodating at all times, and the grounds were absolutely beautiful. Room was extremely comfortable and perfectly sized, and the twice-a-day turn down service was much appreciated. My only complaint about the hotel would have to be the Internet service. For business travelers, don't expect Internet to be consistent at all! If at all possible, bring a hotspot with you; you're asking for trouble otherwise. All in all, a wonderful experience, and I will certainly be returning!

The staff at the hotel was more than accommodating, pleasant, and efficient and welcomed us beyond my expectations.

Pros: Free breakfast, Close restaurants, Free Internet, Quiet
I would definitely recommend this hotel while their stay in Rome, Italy. The hotel provides a shuttle to the Spanish Steps so a taxi is not necessary. The staff and service is excellent, to include the cleanliness. I would most likely stay at this hotel again when I return to Rome. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Great and Pleasant place to stay!

Pros: Quiet, free courtesy car to via veneto
The hotel was really beautiful, the rooms were very spacious and clean. We felt even more satisfied by passing through the beautiful Villa Borghese to reach the hotel above it. Staff were so Polite & Posh with a supportive & sincere attitude. The Best thing about this hotel is the one of a kind restaurant, expensive but pleasant & flamboyant. still worth it. Overall I'd recommend Aldrovandi as we spent pleasant nights there for which I'd like to hereby appreciate all of those whose helped it happen

superb

the aldrovandi palace is a gem near the center of rome..its a beautiful villa thats quiet, elegant, and above all , provides the warmest and kindest service one could hope for...its shuttle service to points in central rome is a great convenience, and the drivers go out of their way in giving you tips to make your outings more enjoyable and worthwhile...the hotel also has a wonderful buffet breakfast that is set between 2 elegant dining rooms....its best that you opt for a package that includes the breakfast, as it is very expensive if one pays on their own

2009 update/ pay attention

At first I was hesitant to stay here because of the past reviews but it was all that was available at the time of my visit( ( i booked last minute) Thank God I did. because I had the most wonderful experience. Maybe the staff has changed since 2007 when those reviews were written, but let me assure you, everything was top notch. I found the staff warm and friendly, professional and helpful. My room was lovely, and yes it was small but beautiful like a jewel box. most importantly, as a woman traveling alone, I felt safe here. The staff was attentive and protective of their guests. I did not have any problems and I wonder at those people who did because the staff went out their way to attend to my needs. It is located in a beautiful part of Rome, and the restaurant may seem expensive but this is Rome people!!! there are tons of less expensive places to eat, but i reccommend you have at least one meal there because the food is fantastic. If you want to experience italy in its traditional grandeur, treat yourself to this hotel. It is worth it.

Hotel Experience

My family and I stayed at this hotel prior to our departure on a Mediterranean cruise. While our stay at this hotel was very pleasant prior to the cruise, our treatment when we returned for our last night in Rome was simply abominable. When we arrived back from the cruise ship, we were told that our reservations had been cancelled two weeks earlier by American Express Travel. The hotel was sold out and initially offered to move us to a comparable hotel in Rome, at the same rate. Then they indicated that they couldn't do that but would book us at the AIrport Hilton for the same rate. Then they couldn't do that - rate was $30 Euros more per room ( we had two rooms). \nWhen we finally contacted American Express, they had a confirmed reservation stil sitting in their system. Hotel claimed to them that we had cancelled. \nAlmost two weeks has passed and the hotel and Leading Hotels of the World have yet to explain or apologize for their actions. \nWe booked these rooms in May with an American Express Platimum card with full confiednce that we would have a room waiting for us. \nThe treatment we received from the front desk was initially OK, but turned out to be anything but as they were clearly anxiously that we vacate their lobby. In my final encounter with the woman at the front desk - she was flippant, ashowed no empathy and was certainly not behaving the way you would expect from a hotel of this standing. \nI strongly recommend that you not stay here.

Great Service

I thought the hotel staff treated my boyfriend and I really well. I agree with another reviewer, the 30 dollar breakfast is a bit much. The chocolate crossaint is heavenly though. The website kind of lies. The outside does not look like a palace. The inside lobby does, and the area you eat breakfast does as well. The location is nice for couples. About a $10 cab ride away from Campo. There are buses that stop right in front of the hotel. There is also a free shuttle that takes you to the Spanish Steps.

Not Pleased Honeymooners

When we got to the hotel our sheets were not clean and had to be changed. The concierge was not helpful and the transportation to the hotel was not convenient at all. We did not get breakfast included and they would have charged us 30 euro for it. We were not impressed. You can do better.
