I booked this property for 5/26-31 but chose not to stay soon after arriving. Directions to the property were unclear, I called the owner for help & he responded promptly, was friendly & personally showed us to the unit & mentioned more than once of “the cleaning lady being a GODSEND & gets paid very well.” The unit did not match expectations based on the photos. Appeared much darker with limited lighting & fewer windows. Atmosphere felt dated, drab, less inviting than anticipated. Front bedroom had a noticeable odor & seemed covered by air freshener. Basic supplies soap, TP, paper towels were nearly depleted. Furnishings & general condition of unit felt worn, uncomfortable. We arrived around 7:45pm & found limited nearby options for food or groceries. A local pizza place appeared open but was unable to serve customers, though others were drinking at the bar. My friend went to a gas station for water & snacks while I searched for other places to stay. I quickly found several and went w/ a hotel bc I didn’t want to chance another unfit rental. I texted that I was returning the key & relocating. He called to ask why, I explained my concerns with the lighting, odor & frat house vibe. He stated that no previous guest had reported similar issues & the stay was nonrefundable. After a long day of travel from VA I hoped for a clean, comfortable place to stay w/ convenient access to basic needs. Unfortunately, the property did not meet expectations, and easily chose not to stay there.
