Needed a lot of maintenance that had not been done

Pros: The staff was extremely helpful and trustworthy 24 hours/day.. They gave directions, called a cab, spoke good English.. Low Price. The courtyard/pool.
Cons: Maintenance. Arcing light switches, lights that would not work. Shower water went everywhere. Limited hot water. Loose toilet seat.
Location: Perfect location. A few blocks form the beach. Close to lots of restaurants, stores and shops.
Firstly, it was clean and the staff was wonderful. It's close to the beach. A/C worked fine. The price was low. These are the "goods". However it needed maintenance. The main room light switch did not work, so half the room was dark at night. The shower curtain was not long enough so the bathroom floor got a lots of water on it. The A/C remote control had been used so much that the lettering on it had worn off, making it hard to use. The bedroom overhead light switch sometimes had a electrical arc, which is dangerous, making the light flicker. There was a standing lamp that had a cord, but no place to plug it in. The 6 speed ceiling fan seemed to have only one speed: high and noisy. The toiled seat was not screwed down, so it slid back and forth when you sat on it.

Great location

Pros: Great outdoor seating area. Perfect location.
Cons: Needs some updating of furnishings, paint and general update.
Location: This hotel us a few blocks from the beach and Melacon. There are restaurants, bars within a block in every direction. There is no parking.
This is an older hotel. The location us perfect, the Hotel is in need of some upkeep. The staff were great, the outdoor seating areas were wonderful. The room wasn't too bad. There were drawers missing and broken in the dresser, the shower was probably clean, but looked dirty because of the grout and tiles. The a/c worked great.

Nice hotel in good location

This was our second time in this hotel. Other than the beds being rock hard, we love it here. The staff is friendly. They keep it clean. I love the community kitchen. Tipping goes a long way here. Rosa at the front desk has connections, and will call an affordable taxi, or will tell you the best places to go for a massage, or how to take the bus. Restaurant is good. If you want to go on excursions, they are in Mismaloya, which is just south of P.V., and an easy cab ride away.

Just Okay ...

I read the previous reviews and thought it would be a great place to stay for the night. I enjoyed the overall location and charm of the hotel.  I had an room on the ground floor in the courtyard. I was fine that the room was small, but the pillows were flat and very bumpy. The lock on the door kind of locked ... not really. And, having a room in the courtyard meant a lot of noise all night long. There was a group of 25 young adults who stayed that same weekend and let's say they thought the courtyard was their personal living room from 8:00pm to 4:00am. I know I didn't  get any sleep. I was wondering the whole night where was the night time manager was!?! Other guests asked them to be quiet, but they got ignored. Overall, if you book this hotel ask for a room not in the courtyard if you like not to be disturbed in the night. It is a good value for what you get.

Lovely stay, charming place

We just came back from a week in Puerto Vallarta at the Posada de Roger.  It's located exactly where we wanted, near the Playa de los Muertos in the zona romantica.  The hotel is lovely in the traditional Mexican style, will lots of plants and flowers. A gorgeous setting. The rooms are charming, clean and have everything we need.  Good bed.  Lovely art on the walls. A clean, simple bathroom in which everything works.   There's small, but charming swimming pool, surrounded by potted flowers, which was almost always empty, and always clean.  We swam in it every day, sometimes twice.   The resttaurant next door, Freddy's Toucan, is open for breakfast and lunch, and it's truly exceptional.  Delicious food, great service, and another charming atmosphere.  Hotel and restaurant staff are amazingly friendly and helpful.  We had a wonderful time here.

Friendly hotel

Pros: Close restaurants, Free Internet, Quiet
I've stayed at the Roger for several times now...nice and clean...beautiful gardens...friendly staff. Once my luggage got lost at the airport, they told me to go out and eat, and do errands, they would keep calling and track down my luggage. Nice, nice place. Also in a great area of the city

This hotel made my vacation very enjoyable.

Pros: Close restaurants, Free Internet, Quiet
This "posada" is ideal if you need a comfortable bed and friendly atmosphere. The Mexican decor with hundreds of potted plants is eye-opening. Several terraces are available for sunning, reading, or visiting with other guests. Nice clean pool on rooftop. The hotel staff is very thorough with cleaning every square inch. Ideally located near great restaurants, shops, and beach.

Great Mexican hotel well located

Pros: Close restaurants, Free Internet
I prefer less touristy and more authentic stays in PV. Posada de Roger fit the bill. Clean basic rooms with everything I needed, friendly staff, and budget priced. I will definitely stay again. I was surprised at how comfortable the bed was, firm but I slept great.
