Pemberton Forest View Retreat

Only five minutes from Pemberton - this unique timber home, set on five acres and nestled within majestic Karri trees, is a tranquil private hideaway. Once known as the Artist's Barn Studio, this iconic property, surrounded by beautiful gardens, fruit trees and water features, is situated in a peaceful location on the edge of the Arboretum forest. Visited daily by a family of kangaroos, you are minutes away from the vibrant timber town set amidst rolling hills and forests of giant trees.

Weโ€™re happy to assist in any way we can and prefer to keep most communication on the platform, as we may be unable to answer calls while driving or in meetings. If you need to reach us quickly, please send a text message for the fastest response. For emergencies, please dial 000.

There are plenty of beautiful places to visit in the town and just out of Pemberton. National parks, The Gloucester Tree, The Cascades, Big Brook Dam, The Bibulman Track, wineries and cafes just to name a few. Please visit our Guidebook for more details!

We are in a very respectful neighbourhood.
- Absolutely No parties or events of any kind and strictly quiet hours from 10pm- 7am.

Parking at the front or in the grounds. You will receive the access details a few days before your arrival, once you have completed the Truvi guest verification process.

Two spacious bedrooms - The mezzanine floor has a king size bed and walk-in robe. The downstairs has a queen bed and a single bed. There is a mattress we can make up for additional guests. You can choose to sleep in the upstairs bedroom with the sofa bed or in the downstairs bedroom with the single bed. Please note the upstairs bedroom is set on a mezzanine floor. The bathroom and toilet are downstairs.

Recently renovated kitchen with new appliances are wonderful for preparing a family meal.

The main living area has an air-conditioner and we have an overhead fan in the top mezzanine bedroom with an additional fan to keep you comfortable. The lower bedroom also has access to a fan to keep you cool in the Summer months.

The kitchen has all you require for a comfortable stay- we have a smart TV and even a piano to try your hand at a little playing. For your coffee enjoyment, we have a Nespresso machine. You're welcome to bring your favorite coffee pods.

Wood for the the inside fire - due to firewood shortages, firewood is not supplied but can be purchased at the general store in town.

We are only five minutes from town. There is also a visitor's centre in town with an IGA and a range of eateries to choose from!

The best way to explore the local area is by car. You can however just walk 800m from the property through the Karri forest to the famous Gloucester Tree.

We want to make sure that everyone who stays with us is safe and protected. We strongly recommend all guests secure travel insurance to cover unexpected changes to travel plans. Unless an issue arises directly from our listing, refunds will not be issued. Please contact your travel insurer for assistance with costs related to disrupted travel. This will help cover the cost of any unexpected changes to your travel plans, like if you need to cancel your stay with us. Identity Check & Security Hold
Before check-in, guests complete a quick ID and card verification via our Guest App - similar to hotel check-in โ€” to ensure safety and peace of mind for all. A $750 security hold (required by our insurer) is placed and automatically released after your stay once house rules are confirmed and no damage is noted.

Weโ€™re happy to consider early check-in and late check-out requests, though these options are subject to availability and not guaranteed. Our cleaners charge a fee $50 per hour for this service. For guaranteed early access, we recommend booking the night prior to arrival. This offers peace of mind and a smooth, stress-free start to your stay.

Like most areas in Australia, we need to be mindful of water use. The water for house use is sourced from a rainwater tank and for this reason, we thank you to be careful to have short showers of a suggested length of two minutes. This will ensure there is enough water for you and your guests during your stay and also for future guests.

Likewise, we must ensure our beautiful garden is water-wise. This means that in the cooler and kinder months, our plants thrive with great beauty. However, in Summer (with heatwaves and water restrictions) our garden is challenged by dry earth and sunny skies. Please be aware that although we do our best, like most gardens in our area of Australia, our garden is waiting for the cooler months to renew and thrive!

Please be mindful of the fire restrictions from December 1 - March 31 inclusive and be aware of any current fire bans in the area before lighting any fires outside or in the wood heater inside.

Our home is in the heart of the Australian bush. We are visited almost daily with bands of kangaroos, magpies, kookaburras, the fairy splendid wren and small forest birds like the silvereye. Unfortunately, we also have a few friendly bugs that while they nourish our wildlife, they can also be annoying to the typical visiting human being! While we try to do our best to keep these unwanted guests away from our home, they are persistent and you may come across one or two of the little critters. Having said that, aren't you here to enjoy our natural surrounds well away from the shiny lights of the city?

This home is a beautifully timbered house and has its own character and charm. Please be aware that this is a character home full of interesting and well crafted features. It is not a modern house from the city- we hope that you can truly breathe deeply and enjoy all this location has to offer!

Our properties are thoroughly cleaned and maintained to the highest standards. However, as we are located in Australia, occasional encounters with insects such as ants, flies, or mosquitoes may occur, particularly if food is left out or doors/windows are left open. This is a natural part of the environment and does not constitute grounds for refunds or negative reviews. We provide insect deterrents where necessary, and guests are encouraged to take reasonable precautions.

For stays of one month or longer, a complimentary mid-stay clean will be provided as a condition of the rental. The cost of this clean will be covered by the property owner. For stays extending beyond one month, a complimentary clean will be scheduled every fortnight.

Stayed as couple with a 3-yo, two weeks in winter.Kitchen: clean and modern. Dish soap, salt, pepper, canola spray, tea, coffee, UHT milk provided. Some plastic baby plates too. All appliances work well. Only things we wish were included was an oven mitt and a dish scrubbing brush.Dining/Lounge: spacious, great views. Couches comfy. Matches for fire provided. Found bags of compressed logs on back verandah.TV modern, HDMI ports.Heat from fire will rise to the high ceiling/mezzanine bedroom above so you'll still want to dress warmly in the lounge on a cold night.Mezzanine master bedroom: spacious, cosy. Excellent mattress (medium firm, no weird dents or sagging, quiet frame). Privacy blinds for windows - these will not block light so in summertime if you want to sleep in, bring a sleep mask. If you have the fire going, expect it to reach 23C up here due to heat rising, even on 4C night.Bathroom: bath spacious, hot water rapid. Shower needs TLC and has poor drainage, we found it best to mop up water splashes in the area after use to keep the space pleasant. Secondary bedroom: kid bed has good mattress. Queen bed mattress is saggy in places with creaky springs. Blinds do not fully cover window or block light which made toddler daytime nap more challenging. Open windows during day to encourage air flow. Toddler loved glowing stars on celling.Garden: beautiful, many kangaroo and duck poos so wear boots you can leave at the door. Easy walk to Gloucester Tree.
The garden is a key feature, many international arrangements of flowers and bushes to create a lovely feeling.
A misty morning as photographed from within the property.
Front of the property. The Karri forest begins a ways behind it.
View from the bed on the mezzanine level.

Grubby, dirty, top lights went out. Locked box not where it was meant to be. Linen in top floor bed was akready used. We found long black hairs in the bed. Overall it wasnt easy access up and down the top bedroom stairs. The lower bedroom was very dark and dank and depressing. No not a good stay.

Lovely home, perfect location

I took my daughter down to Pemberton after a rough year she's had. It was the perfect location - close to almost everything you'd like to see and do in the region. The home was larger than we needed but we enjoyed the space and serenity.

The Pemberton Forest view retreat was amazing! Just like how the pictures portrayed it to be. I loved the location and the amount of wildlife that was around - especially the nightly visits from the kangaroos :)
