One of the secrets of pain-free wandering is convenience, so when planning your vacation have a look at the Patterdale Hotel and YHA Patterdale - Hostel, all of which are within a 0.6 miles (1 kilometer) walk of central Patterdale.
13 miles (20 kilometers) away from the heart of Patterdale, you will come across the Gilpin Hotel & Lake House. Alternatively, the Holbeck Ghyll Country House Hotel is located about 8 miles (14 kilometers) away. Some more hotel options in the surrounding area include the Windermere Suites along with the Swinside Lodge Hotel.
Still looking for things to do? You could spend the day checking out Hill Top and Dove Cottage, which you'll find in Ambleside, 8 miles (13 kilometers) to the southwest of Patterdale. A few Travelocity-recommended Ambleside hotel options include the The Daffodil Hotel and The Wordsworth Hotel and Spa. Or, stay the night in Cockermouth, 17 miles (27 kilometers) west of Patterdale, where you can choose from the Hundith Hill and Allerdale Court Hotel. The Jennings Brewery and Crummock Water are more popular attractions to check out for those visiting Cockermouth.
Prior to departing Cumbria, you should certainly ensure you catch some local teams. Stop by St. James' Park, located to the northeast of Patterdale. Modern travelers wishing to sleep in the area around the game can select from the Jesmond Dene House or the Heroes Hotel - Hostel.
If you plan to arrive by air, Newcastle International Airport is a convenient gateway for Patterdale. Not far away is Novotel Newcastle Airport.

Riverside Hotel
"Stayed here on a Saturday night and on first impressions of the reception and bar/dining/ terraced area, it looked as if the hotel had been given a bit of an uplift, the outside was in keeping with the era with the local buildings and ones dating back to 1900s. The pool etc and gym were good and enjoyed them. What wasn’t good was the state of the room, which was in a god awful state of repair, with evidence in insect damaged carpet, lack of painting for a number of years, wood facias all scuffed and chipped, the shower screen having no rubber strip to prevent water dropping onto the floor. The last part caused water to pour onto the bathroom floor and caused us to get extra towels to shower with as we soaked everything up that had leaked out. The furniture and fitting in bathroom were very dated too. I would have asked for a different room but the hotel was fully booked for the night. The bedding and cleanliness of the room was ok and the only reason we stayed there. I would say at £135 for one night with no breakfast, was grossly overpriced, by aporox £70, given the appalling state of the room. I wouldn’t recommend the hotel to anyone, especially at its grossly inflated price and would only consider going back if the whole interior of every room was upgraded. The interior made a Travelodge room look like a palace. Bitterly disappointed to say the least! 0 ⭐️ for bedroom and 3⭐️ for everything else!"
