It’s a beautiful property. The rooms were great but we didn’t have any hot water for the showers. There were four of us two of us took cold showers and they never did anything about it except saying oh sorry about that. I complain to two different people told them I’d like someone to call me and I never heard from anyone.

Great Atmosphere and Staff
This hotel is very clean, and the staff is amazing. The breakfast was typical continental style with muffins, bagels, donuts, fruit cereal, instant oatmeal and a hot item that changed every day such as quiche, breakfast sandwich etc. The restaurants were good. One has a great tavern atmosphere, and the second one was more upscale. We will be staying here again on our next visit.

The refrigerator did not fit in dresser cabinet. It protruded out. The bathroom sink plug assembly was broke. Almost impossible to empty. For the money, we expect better.

Hotel is adjacent to Convent Station on NJ Transit train line making it easy to get in to New York City. Red Dog Tavern (on site) served well prepared food for reasonable price.

Train whistles all night
This was one of the worst nights of sleep I’ve ever experienced in a hotel. The good: The room was large, clean, and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast was fine. The bad: The hotel is very close to a train station and worse, a street crossing. The trains went by all night and must blow their whistle at crossings. It was hourly from 10-4, then more and more frequently. The staff was rude, both at the front desk and the restaurant. The $20 voucher for the restaurant cannot be used on alcohol. A colleague and I thought we would go to the bar at the restaurant for a nightcap. We weren’t told until after we had consumed our drinks that we couldn’t use the vouchers, despite having the vouchers out on the bar as we ordered and said we wouldn’t be ordering food. I checked in after 8pm for one night and housekeeping was already knocking at the door at 7:30. Why would housekeeping be coming to the room before I had checked out on a one night stay? My colleague was assigned a courtyard view room and said she only heard the train in the morning as the commuter hour picked up. If you are looking for peace, quiet, and pleasant staff, this is not your hotel.

We stayed here while visiting Drew University. The aesthetics were very relaxing and the beds were comfortable. A member of our party needed an accessible room due to a recent injury and the front desk was very accommodating. We will definitely consider this hotel in future.

Always a great stay!! Super clean & lovely staff! Check-in was a breeze. The gentleman that helped us is often there and he's so nice. The staff at the restaurant are top notch. We enjoyed some tunes from their piano player, an appetizer from the kitchen and great drinks from the bartenders (especially Mark). I highly recommend this hotel!!
