The room we were given was nice except for the shower. It was a standing shower and was so small we couldnt use it. They moved us to a different room for the 2nd night, but we had to shower elsewhere on the middle day. Absolutely ridiculous for the cost charged. Breakfast was mediocre.

We chose the hotel for its proximity to the Ottawa airport. The hotel is an aging lady on the Rideau that, with a little TLC, could return to becoming a pleasant stay. There were two problems. First: there is no restaurant within walking distance other than Starbucks, so we ate at the hotel. The server ignored us for a long time. The food was mediocre (dry fish, poorly cooked steak). The server never asked us what we wanted to drink until after the food arrived. At our table he was noisy (dropping cutlery on the plates) and seemed to want us gone. Second (and worse): We were given room 221, on the second floor of one of the buildings. The outdoor stairs and the floor to the room are crumbling with exposed rebar. At the top of the stairs, there is an exposed end of rebar that is not only a trip hazard but also could cut someone wearing sandals who was not aware of it. I don't think this stairway and floor would pass a safety inspection.
