This was a somewhat frustrating and strange experience. It was my first time using Vrbo and I don’t know if I’ll ever do it again, sadly. I’ll start with the good: This motel’s location was nice - just a block from the beach. The motel suite itself had a fridge/stove (which we didn’t try to use), 2 bedrooms, and a bathroom as promised. However there were a few concerns right away. There was a gaping hole in the wall of the kitchen above the sink with pipes exposed. I think someone attempted to provide some cover by putting a canvas in front of it, behind the sink tap, which didn’t really fix the issue and the canvas kept falling because it had nothing to hang on to. I didn’t really go near it and tried to avoid it knowing that all kinds of creatures live in walls, especially at a motel kitchen near a beach. There were several critters and bugs I had to squash in the bathroom. There was no hand soap or bar soap. The towels smelled like cigarette smoke. When we messaged the owner about it, someone mysteriously dropped off towels at our door with a knock (no one was there though we answered right away) that were in a Walmart bag and with the labels still on - indicating to me that these towels were not washed before being delivered. These issues are not ok but at the very least I wish we had had a heads up! “There’s a hole in the wall - sorry, here’s a discount” but we had no idea based on this listing & the amount we paid (too much!)
