Good for the price.

The 100 year old hotel was quaint and charming. But the front desk attendant was not friendly and don't expect too much from the basic continental breakfast. Also, small things like laundry bags, cream cheese for a bagel etc weren't available. Not a terrible experience but not the best either.

Old hotel with a bad staff

No onsite parking had to.park at the Marriott and walk back to the hotel Rude desk personel at check in and tacky bar in the lobby of this old hotel. Sink is in the room as the bathroom was to old to have a sink. This is a place.to stay if there is nothing else available. They need to replace the young man at check in Also the convention center is across the street and the semi trucks started lining and idling at 5 am right below our 2nd floor room on a Saturday morning to unload at the convention center . I would never go back

Needs updating but trying hard.

I'm fine with this not being a corporate bland hotel at $100 more such as the marriotts across the street. I think they are trying hard with what they have. But for my not great back and neck, the bed was not very comfortable and the pillows very flat. Rooms were very clean and I appreciated the breakfast arrangements. Carpeting in lobby needs replacement or at least cleaning.

Hotel was right for the price.

Pros: price
Cons: Hotel needs new beds, not comfortable. Basic breakfast- coffee was like water!
Old hotel, clean room. I was traveling alone for business. Room is tiny, was ok for one overnight and a shower.

Cozy and convinient.

Pros: Close restaurants, Free Internet, Quiet, Free breakfast
Cons: weak water pressure
Room was nice! Bed was super comfortable however there was hardly any water pressure and wasn't very hot. Happy Hour at the bar was a good value. The location was great -hop skip n jump to BART. Lots of good restaurants in the area.

This location is great to use public transportation.

Pros: Free breakfast
This hotel is an old building and I was worried little when I enter the old elevator. (Old elevator they just spray painted in white) You see I booked this room for Pastor Friend of mine and his wife for one night. Once we saw the room it was a pleasant surprised, clean room, nice towels etc. I used to live in Oakland and didn't know about this hotel till travel zoo had special rated hotel list last week. I will book again.

The price was right but...

Pros: Quiet
Cons: poor ventilation
The hotel is dated and the room was TINY. You have to park your car in the lot across the street and borrow the access card to get in and out of the garage. The neighborhood was not all that great either. I stayed one night on my way to another destination so it was okay for the one night but I would not be comfortable for a longer stay.

Bad Location

Pros: Free breakfast
Cons: Noisy
There is no parking for hotel guest unless you want to pay extra 12.00 a day to park in the garage. You have to share the elevator with housekeeping, and at times it is so full you need the stairs.

Good for the price

Pros: Free breakfast, Free Internet
I was going to a conference in downtown San Francisco, but found that all of the hotels near the conference were too expensive. I took the BART every morning (about 3 min walk from the hotel) and evening, and found it to be very easy. There is a bar and a grocery near the front of the hotel, so if you get a street facing room it can be loud in the evening and during the night due to street noise, people, and delivery trucks - but I actually didn't find it difficult to go to sleep. The carpets in the room are old, but the room was very clean and the sheets and towels were perfectly fine. I didn't find the room small at all, nor did I find the sink outside the bathroom awkward - but I was traveling solo. The free breakfast - coffee, toast, muffins, cereal, and juice - was adequate, but nothing special. Overall, a great deal - I would stay again if I needed to be in Oakland or downtown San Francisco.
