"This hotel refused to issue a refund despite clear evidence that the reservation was made without the account holder’s authorisation.
Hotels.com contacted the property directly and explained the situation in detail, including that the booking was not made by me and that I was in Stockholm at the time. The hotel acknowledged this but chose to proceed strictly under their policy and retain the payment.
No one stayed at the property, and the reservation was never used. Despite being fully informed of the circumstances, the hotel declined to make any exception or show discretion.
If a hotel is unwilling to act reasonably in a situation involving an unauthorised transaction, it raises concerns about how they handle customer issues more broadly.
I would advise caution and not to rely on goodwill or flexibility should any issue arise."
