Charming stay in Port en Bessin, a lively little fishing port all year round.
We are located in the heart of the landing beaches between Arromanches and Colleville (American cemetery), 9 km from Bayeux, 39 km from Caen, 120km from Mont Saint Michel, 272km from Paris.
You only have a small road to cross to get to the beach at low tide.

The apartment between two lighthouses is located on the third floor without elevator facing the sea, the view is breathtaking from all parts of the accommodation, you can observe the comings and goings of boats and tides.
We are located at the foot of shops and restaurants and a small auction where you can buy your fresh fish.
You can park for free in front of the building.
This old three-storey fisherman's building, completely renovated in 2016, is typical of buildings from that time.
We are the penultimate building on the quay in a dead end located just opposite the two lighthouses.
The apartment includes an open SEA VIEW living room on a fitted and equipped SEA VIEW kitchen (fridge, 4-burner induction hob, oven, extractor hood, dishwasher, microwave, washing machine, dryer, kettle, toaster, machine coffee machine (coffee pods provided), a coffee maker, a SEA VIEW lounge with corner sofa, 32 '' flat screen, DVD player, HIFI, a SEA VIEW bathroom equipped with wc (2000w hairdryer); one SEA VIEW bedroom with a double bed, a bedroom with two single beds (possibility of joining them together); a private cellar where you can store bikes, fishing rod etc ...

The view was as advertised! Wonderful! Geraldine was efficient, knowledgeable and most helpful. She was quick to help us to secure a dental appointment when my husband had a crown come off while eating those wonderful caramels. Would come back most definitely. Lovely town and all of the locals were very warm and friendly.

Very cozy well stocked apartment with an excellent property manager. Since the house sits on the seawall on a narrow one way street parking can be tricky to navigate but not impossible. Easy drive back and forth to Bayeux for our DDay tour.

lovely property needs to be clear on access no good if your not good with stairs said there wasnt a outside area but in summer i could imagine it to be well needed no hot tub either which was said to be a little clearer on each flat and what it has to offer lovely host fantastic location

Excellent apartment

We had a fantastic week at this property. Géraldine is very helpful, and solved any problem immediately (viz a broken coffee machine!). The apartment is lovely, spotlessly clean, with a fabulous view of the harbour. The town itself is delightful, a number of different markets across the week, and very good access to all the Normandy landing beaches, Bayeux, Caen - even Mont Saint Michel with an early start. We would definitely stay there again.

Wonderful stay

The apartment was spotless and very comfortable Geraldine was there to greet us and was always very responsive when we messaged her with a query. The view was spectacular. Restaurants, boulangerie and supermarket a very short walk. The only drawback were the very narrow stairs to get to our top apartment. This property was lovely, Geraldine let us access the apartment a few hours early and mat us at the door. She showed us around the apartment and gave us information on Normandy. The apartment was very clean and well stocked she even included a bottle of wine we we arrived. The town is super cute we ate at several of the cute restaurants and didn't have a bad meal anywhere. Just a heads up the stairs can be tricky and tough on older people. We will definitely stay here again

Great stay - lovely accommodations and locale

We wanted to find a “home base” for a four night stay in Normandy to see the WW2 sites as we like to cook and relax after a long day out. This place and location fit the bill perfectly. Loved all of the windows and the view looking out into the small harbor. It was very relaxing. Everything that you need for a functional kitchen is there, very well equipped. The place felt welcoming. The town is charming - not overly crowded by tourists, or that’s how it felt to us. We liked that it was a commercial fishing town. Make sure to explore Port en Bessin and the beach area near the Vauban tower and the memorial to the British commando unit up on the hillside. There were some challenges to the place that one should consider: the staircase up to the flat is a spiral one and narrow. If you are tall, you need to be mindful of the loft ceilings. There’s no overhead shower (just a hand held spray) and no air conditioning. It was quite hot during our stay in France, not normal for sure. The hosts were great - greeted us at check in and were responsive to questions about services around town. Highly recommended. Enjoy your stay.

Wonderful loft

The loft was perfect for our family of four. The location on the water in town is perfect. Great views over the harbor and close to a lot of restaurants. Geraldine was great. Charming loft apartment

The loft apartment was just right for our family of four. The location is wonderful with a great view and parking available. There are plenty of restaurants, some shops and a grocery store in town. Beauty of Normandy

My two teenage sons and I had a lovely stay at this spotlessly clean and well appointed apartment within walking distance of many restaurants and shops. Being right on the water, we could hear the ocean waves and watch the boats go in and out of port as if we were in a ship on the ocean. Geraldine was a wonderful and responsive hostess and immediately felt like a new friend. We had hired a tour guide to take us to all of the WWII /D-Day beaches and museums, and Port-en-Bessin proved a perfect base for such day trips, as all of the beaches are close by. I would highly recommend this apartment to anyone interested in exploring the Normandy area.

Fantastic modern rental in a beautiful seaside town

We loved our stay in Port-En-Bessin. Everything in this apartment is just as clean and adorable as the listing! The amenities are generous, and included lots of little extras, like snacks, travel guides, toys and activities for children, movies, and supplies to use all of the appliances. The waterfront view is fantastic...one of the best in town! The rental does have a unique handheld shower. There is no wall mount option. It was not a problem for us, at all. But, it might not be right for everybody. Look at the property photos closely, to make sure that the bathing options will work for you!

Sea View and Home Comfort in French Fishing Towm

Highly recommend this apartment. Geraldine met us and ensured we understood her apartment's features, neighborhood, shopping, and tourist sites. Her apartment has everything one needs for a very comfortable stay. This apartment made my very American husband and son happy. My husband loved the chaise seating, ocean views, and well equipped kitchen set-up. Our adult son had some telework to do and the wifi was strong and table convenient. I appreciated the lovely decor and fresh feel. At night one hears the calm sea waves. The apartment is on the third floor, so not for mobility impaired. The town is very relaxing with many restaurant choices though menu similarity moved us to try dining at other local nearby towns. Parking is convenient and just in front. Pay close attention to Geraldine's instructions on locking and unlocking the sophisticated apartment door. Recommend highly for all the reasons above. Geraldine is a perfect host with a charming French way!

My stay at Port en Bessin

I will start with the one and only negative. The stairs, we did manage in a measured way , the apartment could not have been better, it was clean spacious and modern. All of the facilities within the flat work and we had no problems. We had no problems with the neighborhood it was very quiet and relaxing. The veiw from the living room window was to die for, it was so relaxing to be able to look out to sea and listen to the tide come and go from any room in the apartment.

Special Trip For My Family. Thank You Geraldine!

My, father, brother and I recently spent 3 nights in Geraldine’s lovely Port En Bessin apartment and I honestly don’t know what could have been done to make our stay any better. The noted prior reviews are spot on and her apartment is adorable, spatious and extremely clean. The view to the channel is fantastic, with the sound of the crashing waves at high tide just an added bonus. Port En Bessin is very quiet and charming, with everything we needed in very short walking distance. Highly recommend staying with Geraldine, as her kindness and attention towards making our stay memorable will always make us wish to return to the Normandy region of France. Thanks again Geraldine!

So glad we stayed in Port En Bessin.

We are so glad we stayed in Geraldine's lovely apartment in Port en Bessin. It was comfortable, clean, warmly decorated and ideally situated with a view of the port. Geraldine could not have been more kind and accommodating. All the shops and restaurants were within easy walking distance of the apartment. I even played a beautiful round of golf at the Omaha Beach Golf Club. This peaceful little village was idyllic. On several days of our trip we joined tours in Bayeux (D-day beaches and Mont Saint Michel), and when returning to Bayeux the shops and restaurants were closed while Port En Bessin shops and restaurants remained open. A car is pretty much needed to stay here and we were glad we didn't have any large pieces of luggage because the stairway is quite narrow and steep. That being said, we were sad to have to leave this beautiful place and would recommend it to all who want to experience the best of Normandy.

We miss Normandy already!!

We had a fabulous time in Port en Bessin, and this apartment was just perfect!! There was plenty of room for the four of us (2 adults and 2 kids), and the apartment had everything we needed. The view of the harbor was beautiful. We were even able to sleep with the windows open and fall asleep to the sound of the waves. There is free parking right outside the front door. And the close proximity to all of the D-day sites is wonderful. Geraldine was so helpful. She sent us several brochures about the area before our trip, promptly answered all of my question, and even greeted us at the apartment with wine and snacks. We hope to return someday to Normandy and would love to stay in this apartment again. Thank you, Geraldine, for sharing your apartment and making our trip so memorable.
