No front desk - international travelers beware

Pros: Location was nice, close to the beach, rooms were clean
Cons: No check-in / check-out services
There is no front desk staff on duty. I was en route from the east coast of the US for more than 30 hours, and on arrival, I could not get into my room. At about 11:30 am on the day of my arrival the hotel sent an SMS and email with a keycode for 2:00 PM room access. I had no mobile or SMS service and the Wifi system in the hotel was locked down with a password. I had no advanced warning or preparation for this.
