My room was upgraded to a swim up suite which was awesome but then the room was without tissue the Tv didn’t work and the mini bar was not stocked with water or anything. The bathroom door was broken and jammed, We asked front desk constantly and it was noted but nothing was done.

The trip got off to a rocky start. When we first entered our room, the floor felt damp and there was an odd smell. The next day, after taking a shower, we discovered water spreading across the entire floor. We called the front desk, and both housekeeping and maintenance came to check it out. Although they unclogged the drain, the water problem continued. We requested to be moved, but the process was more difficult than expected. This ended up being the most frustrating part of the trip. Fortunately, the following day we were finally moved to a new room — and the difference was immediate. The new room smelled fresh, and although it still needed a bit of updating, it was much better overall. I was disappointed that house keeping didn't see that the room was so damp and there was condensation under the bed and all around. Now for the good — the staff was truly incredible. We visited every restaurant on the property, and the employees were consistently wonderful. The Palms quickly became our go-to breakfast spot. Shamaya, Shantel, and Doneika went above and beyond for our party of six. Even as we walked around the resort, they would greet us with a warm “See you later.” They truly made us feel like family. The entertainment staff was also outstanding. Flamez, Mr. Beat, Tio, and TT brought so much energy and joy to our stay — they truly made the trip unforgettable. They greeted us every day and checked in on us often, making sure we were always having a great time. Veronica

Beach area is great. Rooms could use some touchups. Showers did not work properly in both rooms and had to get them to come and fix the tv's. However, rooms were clean and a great size.

We booked the family suit beach view room. We got a room that was run down, broken balcony door handle, stained couch, broken faucet that completely moved back and forth, poor water pressure in the shower and smelly pillows with bed sheets. The resort stated fun kids activities including sprinkles and slides. That was not the case, they had a small sized baby pool with sprinklers where there wasn't much space for more than 2 kids.

Room was not ready on time. Dirty bed linens, no blanket, no wash clothes, no gand towels and no bathroom floor post shower towel... waited over two hours for someone to come to change dirty bed and bring( two) washcloths. Got locked out the day of my husband's grandad funeral ( the reason for our trip) for 2 hours because they say the batteries died. Waited for mantanence/ security to bring emergency key, stil wouldnt work . Ultimately they had to drill a hole in our door to physically push something through door to pull the latch. My husband missed most the funeral something he will never be able to get back or redo. Tried explaining this to the management at hotel but unsuccessful they could not grasp the significance of this unsatisfactory treatment. He will never be able to get that back... beautiful hotel unfortunately we were treated horribly. Had the same two washclothes for 4 days after repeatedly asking for more. Smh. This hotel needs new management!!

This was our third visit to Azul. I want to give it 5 stars but over the years the staff (who are literally the reason we go back) aren’t always set up for success. Yet, they work so hard to make your stay amazing. Of course the beach is phenomenal and do not miss the spa- every massage here has been magic! It would be nice if hotel management did a better job of ordering linens, towels and branded alcohol. The food has improved since our last stay but it’s still not as good as the first time. With a proper investment in renovations and amenities, this hotel would be unbeatable.

We will never stay at Azul Beach Resort again. Our room was neglected and right above the outside bar. We couldn’t sleep, due to the noise and slamming doors. The doors are paper thin and you can hear everything going on. The staff was not accommodating at all. We requested another room, but we didn’t get into one until the next afternoon. After we spent all morning asking the staff. The staff kept pushing us off and we couldn’t get to our excursions. The excursion was another issue. They called and said they do not come to our hotel for pick-ups. So we could pay an additional $70 to have them pick us up the next day. I called back to cancel the night before and of course, I couldn’t get a refund. Being on the beach at Azul made us feel uncomfortable. Locals asking if we smoke or want some weed; while I was sunbathing. It became ridiculous. The hotel is run down and needs so much work. I understand that Hurricane Melissa was recently in October, but this side of the island wasn’t as affected. The issue with the hotel were there before the hurricane. We were actually happy to be going home. This experience was terrible.

The staff were genuinely wonderful, the design of the property is beautiful, and we loved the beach and weather — all real highlights of our stay!! That said, the property itself feels run down and didn’t meet expectations in several practical areas. Beach towels were very limited (some days there were none available), parts of the pool furniture looked quite worn, and there were inconsistencies with basic amenities — for example, one day there were no eggs at breakfast, and on two days we received no fresh towels or shampoo and had to track these down ourselves. The bedding also really needs updating, as the pillows were very old and uncomfortable. With better maintenance and more consistent hospitality standards, this could be a fantastic property. We hope these issues are addressed, as the potential here is strong. The hotel has real potential for a 5* star experience with a few updates:) The staff were amazing!
