Hotel Finlandia
"I sort of breathed a sigh of relief when I walked into the lobby of Hotel Finlandia. Because of the mixed reviews, I wasn't sure what standard it was being judged by. Now I understand. My first room was pretty rough. It was on the front corner of the building near two noisy streets across from a condo with three dogs who started barking at 3:30 in the morning. The room itself had not been updated since the 80s and had a king sized bed made up of two twins pushed together. The whole thing was uncomfortable. When I asked to be moved to a quieter room, I was put in a newly remodeled room toward the back of the hotel next to the office building on the other side with a real queen sized bed and heavy linens. It was like an entirely different hotel and I slept like a baby. So, go ahead and book this hotel, but ask for a quiet room away from the street and next to the office building next door. The nicer restaurant is severely overpriced. The more regular restauran with ice cream is more reasonable, but still quite a bit more expensive than you will pay around the corner at the mall with a lot of choices. The large park, La Carolina, is a nice place to explore, completely safe during the day, and has quite a bit of exercise equipment. It seems that they don't answer their Contact Us email, so email the reservation desk instead to arrange your transfer from the hotel."
