Hotel has a great staff

Pros: Free breakfast
Cons: Nothing close, No free Internet, see above....can't walk anywhere
The only problem with the hotel is the location...it is in a quiet part of Quito so after dark there is no pedestrian traffic. Streets are dark. Many Columbian have moved to Ecuador and prey on tourists....pick pockets, mugging, and so forth. This situation necessitates taking a taxi whenever one leaves the hotel after dark.

Good hotel, needs updates

Pros: Free breakfast, Close restaurants, Free Internet, Quiet
We stayed briefly on our way home from the Galapagos Islands. The hotel was very comfortable with great beds and spacious and comfortable bathrooms. The decor could use some updating. The restaurants were very good, but a little overpriced and the service in the bar was poor. The hotel had a very nice shopping area where we found high quality art and jewelry for a decent price. Don't let the hotel arrange your transportation to the airport or you will pay twice the going rate.

accomodations and service was world class

Pros: Free breakfast, Close restaurants, Quiet, friendly stall
Cons: No free Internet
from the moment I was met at the front door I started to relax and tension was released from my body. The friendly, English speaking staff made me feel as I was the most important guest in the hotel. They accomodated all of my requests with a smile. The room was outstanding and just what I needed after a long day of travel. I recomend this hotel to any and all travelers, from any part of the world

December 2010

We arrived and although the hotel was beautifully furnished our room was dark and small and we could hear everything going on outside. If you want a quiet place to rest, this is not the place for you. The location is perfect, in the heart of the old colonial city. I really enjoyed my food in their restaurant in the evening but I did get Salmonella poisoning from their eggs at breakfast. The breakfast buffet was weird!! Left over veggies from the previous nights service!! We eventually asked to be moved to a quieter and bigger room and after much fighting got moved. The walls really are paper thin in this hotel. OMT, when I told the receptionist about getting sick, she just ignored me and carried on with trying to check us out. The staff were very pleasant in general and the hotel was very clean.

Marriott Staff Great! Hotel too sterile

The Marriott Quito was very much like any other Marriott. If you didn't make an effort to get away from hotel you felt like you were in ANY city. The conceige and front desk staff were very nice but it felt as though they were trying to keep you in the hotel. We were there for one week and obviously wanted to eat elsewhere. The staff was unable to reccommend any restaurants other than their own. The Marriott restaurants were good but expensive and very limited. \nOn the good side the pool is great very warm but nice at night. The massages are also super and very cheap at $40 per 50minutes.\nThe hotel location is actually pretty good if you can get a staff member to help you with a map and directions to the main street. About 6-8 blocks. \nWe walked around during the day and felt comfortable. The hotel would prefer you to take a taxi EVERYWHERE.\nAnother plus was the hotel has cars available for private tours out of town....if was great for going to out of tow to markets, to the equator and any parks. The drivers have limited english and are not really tour guides although they are good drivers.

Great Value for Money!

This is a fantastic hotel with top-notch facilities, friendly and helpful staff, and a general sense of luxury. The bathroom alone is worth the price -- a huge stand-alone tub AND an enormous shower make you feel like you're staying somewhere far fancier, and the bed (crisp white sheets and pillows, amazingly comfy mattress) is divine. The pool is huge and tropical, the breakfast is plentiful, and there's tea and cookies in the lobby every evening. It's a snap to catch taxis from the front door, and the hotel is pretty close to everything in Quito. Would stay here again in a heartbeat -- probably one of the nicest hotels I've ever been to, and definitely the nicest in Quito! Highly, highly recommended.
