I booked and prepaid a two-night stay at The Crescent Sonder in Los Angeles through Expedia.com. After my stay, Sonder incorrectly charged my credit card again.
When I contacted them about the issue, they acknowledged the mistake and promised a refund within 7 to 10 business days. Instead of resolving it, they charged me again for the same amount - and after realizing the mistake, they refunded it that same day.
They then claimed that refund also covered the earlier charge. It did not. I reviewed my bank records carefully - the original charge was never returned.
This pattern of duplicate charges, miscommunication, and failure to correct billing mistakes is unacceptable. I feel taken advantage of and unsupported by their customer service.
After contacting their customer service several times, complaining to Expedia and posting on the Marriott site, I finally just got an email confirming the refund.
I am sharing this to ensure others are aware. Travelers should not have to fight this hard to recover incorrect charges from a hospitality company.
