Perfect for us

Pros: The staff was very accommodating, even to the point of giving us a discount on room service charges when the kitchen could not accommodate our order.
Cons: Our only "complaint" was some difficulty understanding hotel staff who were not native English speakers.
Location: Easy short walk to the tube, perfect location near Grand Ormond Street Hospital, nearby pub and Starbucks. Very close to the British Museum.
We picked this hotel for its location and the good reviews, and it met our expectations completely. The room (double queen) was very spacious, as was the bathroom. Everything was clean, and ALL the toiletries were replaced daily. There were adequate outlets and good lighting.

A mixed experience

We arrived after 2 but our room was not ready so we accepted an alternative which turned out to be in the basement. It turned out that all available rooms were subterranean. Ours had steps leading down to it from the street and someone had forgotten to lock our window so it felt anything but secure. Also the hotel was on a bus route so there was noise. The desk staff always seemed to be on personal phone calls and never looked up if we approached the desk. The next day we changed rooms and the staff moved our stuff up to our new room and things looked up. There was only one bath robe, which was odd, but they readily supplied a second. The wifi was iffy and they wanted ten pounds a day for premium which seemed excessive. On the last morning there was no hot water in the shower. For three hundred dollars a night, that's a lot of negatives, but this is London so expensive and mediocre is what you have to expect.
