The hotel needs upkeep, I think it's on the older side (price reflects). That said, cracks in the wall, flimsy bathroom doors and having rooms directly adjacent to the lobby lended the room to a poorer stay. The area was also a little seedy, and as we were traveling with family, walking back from the trolley stop at night felt a little dicey. I think in the future, we would have spent the money for a nicer hotel a little closer to the city.

Need better instruction, which keypad and which number to press for the Reception Desk. Maybe a bigger sign in the front. Once you figured it out, the stay was very nice, the staff was very accommodating, they cleaned the room every day, and let us store the luggage after check out. There is microwave you can use. The guests who don't know Portugese need clear instruction on the use of the kitchen.

Good enough for a night over in Lisbon but not for an extended stay unless you're backpacking. And the church bell rang every half hour until around 7:00pm....super annoying if you're trying to recover from jet lag

Outside not nice

The place is not nice outside, you can actually pass it, its dirty and entrance scary. Old elevators, has TV with only 2 channels in Portugese a cartoon channel and chat . For 2 days didn't even have the working TV.

The inside itself isn’t so bad, but I am not used to Hostel staying. This was not the nicest side of Lisbon, and while the hosts were lovely and the rooms were clean and in great condition, I would not stay here again with or without my children. This is a better option for younger travelers traveling without children or who are used to noisy environments like sirens and ambulances. There seems to be a line of demarcation in Lisbon where there’s suddenly lots of graffiti and much more foot traffic. This is that side of town. It’s not terrible, but it’s just not my cup of tea.

The only advantage is its location. Very close to the metro station and at walking distance to the city center. I would not recomment for a stay of over 2 days. I did not find it convenient for families.

We really enjoyed the authenticity of the neighborhood that offered some great options for eating and drinking, as well as a break from the tourism parade closer to the waterfront. The walk to the centro neighborhoods is quick and easy, and there is a metro stop only a block from the hotel that can get you downtown, or even the airport easily. Our room was clean and comfortable. The communal kitchen is also practical for keeping and preparing food.
