The owners were very nice, check-in and parking was easy, however the entire place, inside and out, is in need of some drastic TLC. Our room did not have a workable door, it did not close correctly and had no door knob or lock, we barricaded ourselves in at night. We were told the door was "under construction". We were never offered another room or discount for this inconvenience. When questioned about another available room Frederick told us they had one but someone booked it. I then expressed to him that I was very uncomfortable with the situation, but I was reassured no one would steal me, not the point...I was, however, provided a fan when I said the room was very hot, even though he said I was in the coolest room of the house (dungeon/wine cellar). There must have been some water damage under the floor of the hall leading to our room, the 2' x 5' x 3' hole in the floor was partially covered by various pieces of wood and cabinet doors, no hazard there I guess. The toilet seat needed to be replaced and there was way too much useless furniture in the room, clutter but no chairs to sit in. The breakfast offered was mediocre at best, more of a continental breakfast, so we decided to eat out each morning. I will give them 5 stars for the view, it was spectacular, and 5 stars for the coffee, as long as you could find a clean cup and spoon to use. Really wasn't to my liking, I was not comfortable staying there, and would not recommend.

NEVER EVER COME BACK HERE AGAIN. !! I Explained to you that the door to your room did come apart the night before. I did go out the next morning to buy a new door in Carson CITY..I proceeded to paint that door with several coats of paint.I had to chisel out the space for the hinges.Of course by the time you came I was not quiet ready for the door knob plus the death bolt..I had no other room to give you as the house was fully booked.I gave YOU Ample amount of chips so you could press them under the door So no-one else could come to bother you .But no you had to make a lot of fuss and complain about it for you short time here..In all the Years I have been here I never ever been so insulted..I built this home from the ground up which consumed my free time over 36 years at the moment this home runs for about 8 million The hole you are referring to is the bottom of a three story waterfall inside this home..You must be an experienced complainer as you so very good at lying here in your story.....I could go on her but people like you have millions of friends who cannot wait to hear an other story...from you....Once more If I would have had an other Room I would have given it to you....Keep complaining pilgrim Even your husband was looking at me in disbelieve but I guess he is used to it...Do not bother ever to come here again....The door was fixed Today.....

On a wish list of what I wanted in my VERY RARE vacation, it was short of “rustic” furniture and a fireplace. The pictures of the property were intriguing, so I made the choice to go. The property did not fail my curiosity, but in fact, every inch was a fascinating story to be told. If you are tired of cracker box structures, then enjoy this multilevel, SECURE, beautiful stay with great hosts. If you expect pristine brass and glass, then go somewhere else, but if a clean, quaint, antique furniture filled and sumptuous continental breakfasts provided appeal, then this is your place. It is located ABOVE Zephyr Cove and just down the street, Hwy 50, from a shopping Center, but because it is located ATOP the lookout ridge, you might have the convenience of the shopping Center, downtown populace, but the property is without all of the congestion of cars and people. The view is spectacular and the hosts are genuine. While we were there to relax, there were skiers and couples and others in our little world with us. WARNING….unless you ask for ground level, you need to know that there are short stair wells and three step landings, so be sure to book ground floor rooms if mobility is an issue. Parking is secure and within 20 feet of the ground floor door.

Hallo and thank you so very much Shannon..I hard ly go on this site as this time of year after a long winter there is so much to do up here at 7000 feet..The Bluejais are still trying to built there nest.I know it is not possible as the structure over that window has a 45 degree angle.. I offered glue but they declined. ?Time will tell but ?

Quiet and Breathtaking

Pros: everything
Cons: nothing
Location: Fred was a wealth of knowledge about where to go and what to do in Tahoe.
This hilltop B&B was great. We had to check in late so the owner Fred told us where the room was and we walked right in and felt right at home. Unbelievable views of Lake Tahoe and the mountains from our room. Relaxing and great...Fred and spouse are great hosts and the home is like a mansion in the Alps...highly recommend...

Best balcony view of lake possible!

Owner was very friendly. Located close to all activities. If you just need a place to stay without the feel of staying in a motel this is a great place. Definitely would consider staying there again. Done
