Only bright spot was that i was eager to spot a bear on my trip and there was a large bear that would come on the premises at night. Other than that, the front desk seemed very unorganized. Our bathroom sink had leftover hair and toothpaste from the previous guest, which inspired doubt on whether it was cleaned... asked for new sheets to be on the safe side with a pandemic afoot, and new set smelled like B.O. Needless to say i slept with my clothes on over the covers. When we needed to check out at 8am Friday, noone was available, no drop box for keys, only a number to call that went straight to voicemail. Ended up leaving the key in the room and leaving...didnt hear back until a couple hours later. Would not recommend.

The Avalon Lodge is just simply the worst. From showing up to see the gal behind the front desk sitting on the couch, phone in hand and wearing her pajamas, to the ridiculous stipulations for a place that's not worth the $86 it believes it deserves in the off season. I feel bad for people willing to pay $300 during the peak season of Tahoe. The comforters had stains all over them. You can see where housekeeping barely cleaned the room with the THICK dirt and dust layer on the headboards, around the microwave and fridge. The ice bucket was rusted and filthy on the inside. They can't even provide a legit coffee maker that one could buy for $20 at Walmart. The walls are filthy, marred and just disgusting in general. I found out the bathrooms weren't mopped by drying my legs after my shower and seeing my feet print on the top of the toilet seat. The decor of the place was so outdated and cheaply constructed that you could hear the neighboring residents talking as if they're in the room with you. They must have gone with the lowest bidder to build the showers because everything is uneven and unfinished. No wonder why they don't offer refunds, people must have been storming out and demanding their money back so they could go to the Motel 6 for a better place to sleep. Never again.

Regarding our front desk agent, waiting for her ride using her phone out of the clock and wearing her outside outfit will be mention in our next meeting. We are not mandatory wearing a uniform and therefore they can wear a casual outfit and not pajamas. Sorry to hear that you are not satisfied with our room, but I will assure you we are dusting our amenities and sorry if the coffee press provided in the room is not enough for you. Regarding stain in the room, we would appreciate it if you came or call the desk and we can correct our mistakes. Unfortunately, we cannot make the correction if the guest doesn't say anything during their stay. We are doing our best to keep our property presentable and making some changes to upgrade. Thank you.

From the outside, this place doesn't look to great, but once in our room - we were pleasantly surprised. The room itself was sparkling clean and pretty updated. Bed was comfortable - loved the fridge and microwave but could have used an iron. Great shower!
