We chose this property primarily for its unbeatable location on the North Shore, which truly delivered. It was walking distance to beautiful beaches, restaurants, and hiking trails, making it super convenient for exploring the island without a car every day.Unfortunately, the condition of the unit itself was a major disappointment and made our stay stressful and uncomfortable. Upon arrival, we were hit with a strong musty, damp smell throughout the entire place – clearly indicating poor ventilation and possible moisture issues. The air felt heavy and humid indoors, even with fans and AC running constantly. The cleanliness was far below what we expected from a vacation rental. Surfaces throughout and the bathrooms hadn't been properly deep-cleaned. Repairs of walls and windows are desperately needed.The worst part was the roach infestation. We saw multiple live cockroaches – in the kitchen at night, crawling on counters, in the bathroom, bedroom and living room.It wasn't just one or two stragglers; it felt like an ongoing problem.We understand that roaches can be common in tropical climates like Hawaii, but this level was excessive and clearly a maintenance issue, not a one-off. Combined with the dirt and dampness, it made the property feel unlivable and unsafe for food prep or relaxation. I had to throw some of my food out bc it felt unsafe to eat after being on the counter overnight.The photos and description online did not reflect the reality we encountered.
