Property is old!

This was my 70th birthday trip and very disappointing. The property is old and needs to be updated. The resort has only 1 restaurant where you are forced to pay $30 for a buffet breakfast. No room service. They charge $30 per day for "Amenities" which is b.s. The bathrooms in the suites are totally outdated. Old tile and fixtures. The beds and linens were nice. 2 of the smaller food facilities were closed down due health inspections. Which scared us, so we never ate there. Had to go off the property for meals. The property is on a cliff, so to go to a beach you have to drive miles away!

Beautiful view

Classic hotel. Nice amenities. Internal noise was a problem. Hard wheeled carts running on the concrete structure at all hours....made it difficult to sleep.

$5 Bottle of Water. Wifi Fee. Daily Parking Fee.

Pros: Pool. Housekeeping staff.
Cons: Economical on-site food service; pricing that reflects transparency and true up-front costs rather than a plethora of "fees".
Location: Due to the location drive, usually through insane traffic, to Kona to get a reasonably priced meal.
Stunning location. Nice pool. Nickel-dime management. Am surprised they don't have a fee for elevator use. Friendly housekeeping staff. No breakfast on-site at a rational cost, requires driving to Kona or elsewhere. In short, the "add-on" costs outweigh whatever "reduced rate" room price advertised.

Below expectations for Sheraton brand

Pros: Great location, pool with water slide, nice paved walks under the stars.
Cons: Noise and laundry smell really destroys the excellent experience. Need to replace the toilets and maintain AC. Need also to advertize all fees.
Location: Kona is the place to dine, shop for coffee and souvenirs. very few sandy public beaches on the island, the best is in 25 mi. Snork and see lava!
I booked Sheraton because of other hotel experience. In general, the resort area is kept in excellent condition, and it has two clean pools with fresh (not ocean) water. These are nearly the only place to swim in nearby area. They also put a stairs to get in and out to the nearby bay - a great place for snorkeling and watch colorful fish - really wonderful experience. The staff is friendly and ready to help. So the stay could be 5 star, but i have to downgrade unfortunately. The hotel is poured from concrete and the climate is wet. That is why the room smells like laundry, especially when the AC is turned on. I guess that there is no drain in the AC units and thus it does not de-humidify and smells. The room has very basic furniture - an armchair and a rattan chair. It did have a balcony, but there were realy no seats for extra friends to chat together. The toilet is tankless - so every flush is announced by a loud noise. We also could hear clearly all conversations of our neighbors and people in the corridor. Same about the neighbors using toilet. No sound-proof doors and walls. The maintenance workers start lawn blowers and mowers to add noise.l The room rate is not the only charge you have to pay - there is a separare charge for parking and resort use fees - which adds to the prepaid amount. The breakfast buffet is also overpriced. When they do Lu'au, they block the lawn for walking to those who did not buy the ticket. Overall, not the best value for money.

Not worth price paid.

Pros: Location
Cons: Housekeeping and the facility needs updated. Our bathroom was in poor shape. Tub was chipped and shower was broken.
This resort needs attention. Shower in room was broken and had to tie it up with a clothesline. Housekeeping was terrible. Stayed five nights and only had the room made up properly one time. Had to call front desk every day and get towels/wash cloths/soap because housekeeping wouldn't leave necessary items in room. On our last day, housekeeping didn't even show up. Upon check out we mentioned the issues and received a partial credit but still unacceptable. Next time we will stay elsewhere.

Nice hotel right by the ocean

Sheraton Kona is beautiful. There's lots of beautiful plants and birds. There is snorkeling, beaches, kayaking, paddle boarding, and shops nearby. It took us 8 hours to drive around the island, but the hotel was the highlight of our trip.

Nice hotel.

Nice hotel, close to everything on Kona side of island. Pool is nice, food at restaurants is mediocre, poolside bar is the best. Staff is very friendly and pleasant. Rooms are spacious, but a little dated. Price is fair, but beware of the resort fee.

I was so very happy with my stay. All employees of the hotel that I had the opportunity to talk to was so very nice and helpful. The views were absolutely amazing. And I loved the way the waves broke against the rocks, it was fun and breathtaking.

Too big, too crowded, too expensive

Partial ocean view was no ocean view and no change allowed, no refund possible, front desk personnel were not friendly, would not allow me a late checkout, elevators were frequently closed for maintence, all food and drink were expensive, additional hotel charge and parking (self parking at $15 a day) were unreasonable and hotel was extremely crowded!

Extra fees

Pros: Loved the fact that I could pay for trips to enjoy the island in the lobby
Cons: The rooms were not always cleaned in a timely manner
Location: Just ask the hotel. There is so much to do there.
Paid everything through Travelocity, but they added fees and parking. Other than that it was a great experience. If I went to Hawaii again I would definately not object to staying at this hotel
