Perfect little gem of a getaway

An idyllic little villa in a beautiful setting with everything you could want for a comfortable, home from home stay (your own pet is even included in the shape of Baby the sweetest little cat!). The kitchen has everything you will need and the thoughtful addition of a large bowl groaning with fruit, a bottle of cold wine in the fridge and a little jug of delicious Raki makes it all the better! Upstairs there is a sumptuous four poster bed with the comfiest mattress and the en-suite bathroom is just lovely. One of the windows looks out over the pool and the sea beyond and offers a welcome breeze through the room. The gardens and pool are delightful with all the seating you could possibly need. Thank you Georgia and Dionysis, we hope to come back to stay in your beautiful villa and on the island again one day!

Wunsch erfüllt

Unser Wunsch war es, einen erholsamen Urlaub zu erleben - genau der ist in Erfüllung gegangen. Wir suchen jedes Jahr ein Domizil mit besonderem Charme, legen dabei Wert auf Privatsphäre in Ruhe, möchten jedoch auch ansprechende Restaurants / Lokale / Bars ... in der Nähe nutzen können. Außerdem sollte das Ganze in Strandnähe sein. Hat alles geklappt. Die Ferienwohnung im ehemaligen Speicher hat unsere Erwartungen erfüllt. Den Bildern im Netz ist nur hinzuzufügen, dass die Realität schneller als die Aktualisierung der Homepage war - das Bad wurde inzwischen modernisiert, was übrigens sicher kein einfaches Unterfangen war, da das Gebäude unter Denkmalschutz steht und alle Änderungen - s. Deutschland - strengen Vorschriften unterliegen. Lage und Ausstattung haben uns sehr gut gefallen. Die Klimaanlage haben wir nicht benötigt. Unsere Reisezeit war im Juli, die Temperaturen immer über 30 Grad am Tag, die Nächte waren jedoch oft etwas windig, sodass sich das Schlafzimmer im ersten Stock bei geöffneten Fenstern als angenehmer Ort erwies (das lag bestimmt auch an dem für unser Schlafempfinden sehr gemütlich ausgestatteten Himmelbett). Den Poolbereich haben wir natürlich täglich genutzt - Wasserqualität wurde regelmäßig überprüft, Reinigung erfolgte mehrfach wöchentlich. Durch den natürlichen Bewuchs, der den gesamten Außenbereich in eine kleine Oase verwandelt, verirrten sich oft Blätter und Insekten im Wasser, aber das gehört nun mal dazu, wenn man nicht in einer Betonwüste Urlaub machen will (außerdem ist immer ein Kescher zur Hand). In dieser Idylle haben wir natürlich jeden Morgen ein ausgiebiges Frühstück genossen. Wir sind vom Flughafen Heraklion mit dem Mietauto in die Ferienwohnung gefahren . Die von den Vermietern übermittelte Wegbeschreibung per Foto war absolut hilfreich. Ebenso perfekt war die Begrüßung durch die Vermieter. Das hatte nichts mit einer dienstbeflissenen Einweisung in das Gebäude zu tu, es fühlte sich fast an wie ein Willkommen für gute Bekannte. Neben einem überaus reichlich gefüllen Obstkorb gehörten zur Begrüßung auch eine Auswahl lokaler Gtränke (Rot- und Weißwein und etwas Höherprozentiges) sowie Olivenöl aus eigenem Anbau und zahllose gute Tipps der Vermieterin bezüglich unserer Vorstellungen, Land, Leute und Kultur kennen zu lernen. Das gemietete Auto und die beiden Räder haben uns dabei gute Dienste geleistet. Badeschuhe mitnehmen, es gibt wenige Sandstrände, dafür Badebuchten fast für euch allein. Sehr empfehlenswert

Cretan heaven

Villa Sofas is a genuine treasure. Located a short distance from the beach, it has privacy and intimacy . The flowers and birds are a treat. The hosts are knowledgeable, helpful and truly friendly people who want their guests to have a great time. Everything you need is at the house; a car is helpful but certainly not a requirement. We travel extensively and can easily say this house and hosts are exemplary. Don’t miss this one !!

Perfect spot to relax and enjoy Crete

Arriving at Villa Sofas is like stepping back in time. Georgia and Dionysis have created a great little retreat here, with a lovely pool and sunbathing area as well as a beautiful shaded courtyard. Both G & D were very welcoming and nothing is too much for their guests. The Villa is very well appointed with everything you will need for a relaxing stay and a great bathroom! You won't want to get out of the gorgeous bed. There is a bus stop within 5 - 7 minutes walk and the buses are every half hour in both directions, 10 minutes to Platinias and about 30 to Chania depending on traffic. There is a mini market opposite the bus stop and a supermarket around 15 minutes walk so a car is not necessary here. The beach is also a short walk away if you can tear yourself away from the Villa. If you want to visit this area Villa Sofas is the perfect place to stay.

Idyllic

We spent a week at the lovely villa Sofia and thoroughly enjoyed it. The villa is well equipped, lovely private gardens and pool. We hired a car but also used the local buses and the bikes at the villa. Plenty to see in the surrounding area then so nice to come back to peace and quiet and your very own pool. Would highly recommend and hope to return one day.

Wonderful secluded relaxing visit

The villa was perfect for the 2 of us. The 4 poster bed was so comfy & I loved having the mosquito net to save us getting bitten. The pool was small, but plenty big enough for 2. It was great being able to drink the tap water rather than having to buy bottled water - there was even a jug cooled in the fridge on arrival. It was also a nice touch to have a bottle of wine & Raki left for us. The owners Dyonisis & Georgia were very welcoming & helpful - suggesting beautiful beaches for us to visit. We also liked having cycles to use for the 5 minute ride (20 min walk) to local beach bars & restaurants. I would definitely recommend renting this lovely villa for a relaxing break - secluded, but plenty nearby to see & do. We hired a car which was useful, but there were bus stops nearby if need be. Previous visitors had left a selection of toiletries, sun lotion etc which we added to when we left - great if you're running short by the end of your hols. So pleased we found this little gem

Great location to chill out in peace and quiet

We had stayed the previous week in the centre of Chania town and Sofas Villa was a great place to spend our second week, in a completely different and tranquil location. The owners were responsive to the few requests that we had during the week and were very helpful with advice throughout our stay. All the equipment and facilities were first rate and the four poster bed was particularly comfortable. The pool was a god send for cooling off, and would be particularly appreciated by visitors in the hotter months of July and August. Would we return - most definitely.

Idyllic retreat

My wife and I stayed for a week in May 2018. We were looking for peace and quiet, unreserved sun beds and a private pool. Villa Sofa has this in plenty. Add to that the barbecue and cycles and I wonder how we managed to book it. The pictures on the web site give you a good idea of what it looks like but there is nothing to compare the experience when you actually visit. The hosts cannot do enough to make you welcome and we never managed to eat all the fruit provided.

Lovely Villa in quiet location

We spent a week at Villa Sofas during September. The villa was perfect, and Georgia and Dionysus were very welcoming and friendly. The villa is as good as the pictures and we were not disappointed. The BBQ and seating area are perfect for al fresco eating. The pool area is secluded and perfect for a cooling dip. The outdoor areas are surrounded by plants and trees, and add to the feeling of being in a tropical paradise. The kitchen is fully equipped; the bedroom has a large four poster, with mosquito net, which was very comfortable. The shower was modern and very good. We did not hire a car, but used the bus. The bus stop is 5 minutes from the villa with regular buses, every 30 minutes, into Chania. We hope to return, and would recommend Villa Sofas.

Confort et charme

Notre séjour dans la maison Sofas était parfait. La maison est idéale pour un couple. C'est une vieille maison qui a beaucoup de charme, rénovée avec goût mais avec tout le confort moderne et une piscine bien agréable le matin ou au retour d'une journee de visite. Nous étions bien situe pour visiter l'ouest de l'ile qui est vraiment beau. Georgia et Dionysis sont des hôtes très attentionnés. Nous avons été très bien reçus ; ça fait plaisir de voir tout le cœur, l'amour et le professionnalisme mis pour entretenir cet endroit pour le plus grand bonheur des vacanciers. On reviendra😀

Remarkable stay with amazing hosts

Cannot say enough good things about Georgia, Dionysis and their lovely Villa. We are not touristy, so this was the perfect fit for us. Being able to get up and lay by the pool after a brilliant nights rest was fantastic. It took about a week to perfect my Greek coffee method and when coupled with pastries from a local bakery and the fruit that had been provided, it made for a perfect start to each day. The kitchen is well equipped to accommodate meal preparation to whichever extent you desire. The location is quiet and private, with the exception of a wedding being held up the street one night, and you feel safe and secure the whole time there. It is very easy to get down to the main road and catch buses from there when necessary. They are very proud of their home and have expended great effort in making it comfortable for their guests. Thank you both for making it available for our use! We have fallen in love with Crete and cannot wait to return.

Very beautiful villa!

Very beautiful villa, perfect for a romantic and relaxing holiday. The home was exactly as described, maybe even better! Everything was clean and in good conditions. The owners, Georgia and Dionysis, are really hospitable and helpful. I absolutely recommend this villa.

Beautiful character property

Perfect little secret hideaway for two. Completely private patio and small pool. Was about 10mins walk to pebbly beach and a few nice Greek tavernas. We spent just over 4wks here; hired a car and visited some amazing places and ate some of the best food we have ever eaten. The Owners are very hospitable and lovely people. Truly recommend if you're looking for peace and quiet.

An absolutely surreal experience. Majestic.

The Villa blew me away and surpassed all of my expectations in every way. The history, atmosphere, location, weather, and of course the owners, were all second to none. Fresh herbs and fruit are grown on the Grounds for your liking. The Villa, pool, and property overall are in top notch shape. No problems or issues whatsoever. This place is true perfection. I have, and will continue to do so, recommend this Villa to anyone who is planning on visiting Grete. Georgia and her husband are local Crete's with a long-standing family history. They both taught us a lot, was extremely kind, and they made sure our stay was going to be a truly remarkable experience.

wonderfull traditional place

We stayed at the villa end of October 2015 for 10 days. Giorgia or Dionyssos could not influence the weather, everything else they handled more than perfectly. Their only goal is to have delighted customers, that was already clear at the booking. In real they even did exceed our expectations. We will certainly recommend the villa to anyone who seeks the combination of original Greek way of living. Of course not when we plan to book because that is what we will do next autumn.
