Carolina Pines is a modern mountain home with all the thoughtful touches you are looking for in a relaxing getaway, all on one level. From the moment you turn off Hwy 16 in Jefferson, the winding mountain road will take you through a working tree farm to your vacation rental that is nestled on a hillside overlooking it. Gorgeous views abound from both the front and back of “Carolina Pines.”

As soon as you step up on the front porch you are welcomed with comfortable wicker porch furniture for relaxing or enjoying a glass of wine while enjoying the views. Inside, the open layout of the living, dining and kitchen area offers plenty of space for watching tv, cooking or just spending time together.

Curl up in the cozy living area with the gas logs and enjoy a good movie on the smart TV. There’s WiFi available for those that wish to work a little or plan an adventure out during your stay.

The kitchen offers stainless appliances including a dishwasher for easy clean-up. There’s another small refrigerator for water, drinks and snacks for the kids that is built into the island. And everyone will want to cook in this kitchen since you aren’t separated from the group. You can even keep up with the movie on the TV while cooking!

The dining table offers seating for six and is located just off the kitchen area.

Down the hall, you will find two bedrooms that share a hall bath. The first bedroom offers a comfy queen bed and nightstands with lamps for those that like to read a little before drifting off to dreamland. The hall bath offers a vanity with spacious countertops and a shower/tub combo. Another bedroom offers two twin beds, great for kids or single adults.

An elegant master suite is found at the end of the hallway complete with comfy king bed, flat screen TV, and even USB charge port outlets. After a restful night’s sleep, you’ll love being able to wake up, make your own cup of coffee in your private suite and step out onto your own back porch area with seating where you can enjoy the sounds of nature. The master bath features double vanities, soaking tub, and step-in shower.

A spacious laundry area can be accessed either from the master bathroom or the kitchen.

Step out in the backyard and discover a fire pit complete with wooden benches for roasting hot dogs or making s’mores with the family on those cool Carolina Mountain evenings.

If you wish to venture out, the property is in close proximity to several landmarks in the area. The North Fork of the New River and Gale Winston's famous River House Gourmet Restaurant are only a couple of miles away. The confluence of the North and South Forks of the New River is about 6 miles away. Overall great experience!
The property was great! It was extremely clean and the views were awesome. The house was very open and homey with plenty of games if you stay in. The kitchen has anything you could need if you cook. The beds are very comfortable. There is a store right beside the house with so many helpful & delicious things if you need extra food, beverages, souvenirs, or even a tree! If I could critique anything it would be that we wish the water heater had been capable of filling up the big jetted bath tub more than halfway which was not full enough. We Also started running out of hot water after part of 1 shower so 2 people wouldnt be able to shower back to back. I would also request to have a blind or curtain in the huge master closet. I was too uncomfortable to use the space to change my clothes in there because of it. The vertical blinds are not working properly in the master which makes it hard to open them to access the door. Those could use replacement. There were 2 vehicles in the garage which was a bit disappointing as we were afraid to take our bikes in due to worry about scratching them. It would have been nice to be able to utilize the garage since we thought we had access to the *whole* house. a bigger tv is def needed in the master and another tv in the other bedrooms would also be nice. With the high service fee, i dont feel we should have to take sheets and towels and put them in the tub and wash and put dishes away. But that is a property management issue.

Great stay
We had a great stay at this property. Our family of 5 was very comfortable. Everything was spotless when we arrived. The porch light was even left on, since we would be arriving late. The house had everything we needed with a well stocked kitchen and lots of towels and blankets. The property is great and very private with a big yard surrounded by Christmas tree farms. I loved having lots of open space and no neighbors. We would definitely stay there again. The only negative was the water pressure was pretty awful. There was abundant hot water, but despite having two bathrooms it was impossible to use both showers at the same time. Even turning on a sink anywhere would reduce the shower stream to a trickle that would not even rinse you. We spent most of our time in Grayson Highlands, which is about a 20 minute drive. If you need a place to stay in this area, I recommend this one.

Loved this place
The house is very comfortable, clean, and secure. It is newly renovated and well furnished. Would easily hold two couples or a family. Kitchen very well set up for cooking, tho we could have used more silverware and some soup spoons/tablespoons. We ate in most nights as the house is about 15 miles from town. It is located in a beautiful quiet rural setting, nestled among gently rolling hills. We loved all the hiking trails within a short drive and also enjoyed just walking the rural roads around the house. The people who own the house also own the Christmas tree farm that is in the surrounding neighborhood. We met Carrie, the owner’s daughter, and ended up going home with a free tree! Very kind and hospitable folks. The New River and its tributaries run all around the neighborhood and there are lots of walking paths and country roads to walk alongside it. We hope to come back when the rhododendron are in bloom. As for food shopping, the Food Lion toward Jefferson is surprisingly good. Don’t miss the ice cream shop/sandwich shop in Jefferson, right off the highway - great ice cream. I think the name was Scoops?? The River House restaurant has excellent food, good hospitality. Food prices are high, alcohol very reasonable. It’s the only upscale place in the area.

Nice fall getaway
My family and MIL spent the long weekend here to see some leaves and quarantine outside of our home in Raleigh. Upon arrival the storm door was wedged so tightly we couldn't get the door open. The door ended up breaking the next day (not an issue as the lock was on the main house door). We called and reported it and they had someone come out and take care of it. House was clean. Kids loved the open land and roasting hot dogs on the fire pit. Internet was spotty but we were in the middle of nowhere (which was the point). We were able to have it reset and the TV worked thereafter. As others have mentioned the sheets were "slippery" and barely stayed on. I think this was due to the mattress covers they're using. The twins were a little high for our 4 year old but overall it was a great getaway. Fireplace surely warms up the place if you need it! We were 30 mins from the Blue Ridge Parkway, 20 minutes from Food Lion and 25 minutes from West Jefferson. A great place to be off the beaten path but still an easy drive to stores/town.
