The space

My Dad's dream was Historic Catterton House. He moved it to Ruxton Farm and restored it. All rooms are original and very large along with 2 added upper and lower decks. The house is split into 2 private sections so only half of the house is part of the Airbnb. Everywhere you look, you are surrounded by gorgeous views - the orange and red colors of the sunset and sunrise will astound you! Horses and dogs can have their own space so please enjoy with your pets! Additional fees for your horse. There is an outside grilling/kitchen area complete with a dining table. Cornhole boards are available for loads of fun in the frontyard and two tables along with a fire pit in the circle just inside the woods for an evening after dinner drink! The Airbnb is 2 large bedrooms, nice size bathroom, livingroom, 2 TVs, 2 large decks and outdoor grilling area complete with dining table, refrigerator, counter space, plates, utensils. outdoor cuisinart sink and glassware. There is not an indoor kitchen.
Other things to note
The house is filled with beautiful antiques that have been collected and handed down over the years. The chimneys, windows, floors and walls are all 1826 originals.

Beautiful Stay
We absolutely loved our stay and only wished we added another day! The antique house was cozy, warm, and inviting and the scenery was breathtaking. Also worth mentioning was the bed and linens! We've never slept so good before. We are definitely coming back!!!

Gorgeous, quiet and comfortable spot
Beautiful location off a very quiet road in rural Virginia. House was delightful and we wish we’d had more time to relax there and enjoy the place and its rural surroundings (especially the views from the upstairs balcony), but this was a Thanksgiving visit to family in C’ville so we spent most of our time elsewhere. Beds were comfortable, shower was fine. Would very happily stay here again.

lovely house in a great location
Our stay was short but the house was perfect for us. It was stocked full of snacks and the beds were amazingly comfortable. Ana is a great host and we will definitely come back to stay the next time we are in C'ville.

The Cons Outweigh The Pros
The Pros: Pretty location Historic house Nice horses The cons: Traffic tie-ups - ongoing work on the local roads which we were not informed of and delayed our arrival quite a while Barking dogs on the property - had to ask twice for relief from them; with a place this far out you expect a little peace and quiet No way to control the temperature - couldn't open the windows and the door had no screen to keep little bugs out The windows did not have drapes or shades. We got there at night and had no way of knowing how close the neighbors were, so I did all my dressing/undressing in the dark. Why would there not be any window coverings??? The worst - the bathroom is ONLY accessible through one bedroom, so the people in the other bedroom are going to either have to hold it all night or be extremely careful trying to get past the sleepers in the other room Other: wifi was very weak, coffee maker uncooperative, and TV unusable. These are minor but added to the negativity of the experience. My partner and I worked for the airlines, traveled all over the world, and have stayed in some pretty "interesting" places, but when you are paying this much you expect a higher-than-average stay, not a far lower.

Bucolic horse country
We had a three night stay at the White Hall property while spending time during the days to tour Monticello, Charlottesville and UVA. The property has beautiful views of horse farms, especially from the upper balcony which had plenty of seating for the 5 of us. The furnishings are charming and the one large bathroom and out door kitchen were sufficient. Our host was friendly and easy to work with.

Bliss
This wonderful period house in a bucolic setting was just what we needed after highway driving. There was lots of room for our dogs to run around and they were welcomed with open arms. The hosts are friendly and welcoming. As the listing states, there is no kitchen. This was not a problem for us as a quick drive down beautiful roads led us to Kroger’s and we picked up dinner which we enjoyed on the balcony overlooking the beautiful setting. We would go back in a heartbeat.
