Hmmm - This is Luxury?

Pros: It was on the sand.
Cons: Everything but location.
The iron in my $550 per day room was rusty and ruined my dress shirt. The sheets and mattress cover in my $550 per day room lacked elastic and had to be put back on 2-3 times per night. The in-room safe in my $550 per day room did not work. The staff, minus the bar, were poorly trained in customer service. There was much more focus on maximizing hotel revenue and ensuring they were right than focus on the customer. If this is the best Fort Lauderdale has to offer, the competitors should be having a heyday.

Disappointed

Pros: Great location on the beach. Hotel is clean.
Cons: Beach was dirty, not maintained.
Location: Hotel is not in walking distance of shops and restaurants, you must have a car or take cabs. Hotel charges $30 a night to park your car there????
We have stayed at the Pelican many times over the last 5 years. It has always been a pleasure, which is what has brought us back multiple times. This year, not sure if there was a management change, but it failed to live up to past experiences. They ran out of towels at the beach? had to go into the hotel soaking wet. Next day they ran out of umbrellas at the beach, 90 degrees out. The hotel is very clean but the staff did not go out of their way as in the past.......not as polished and gregarious. Regretfully, we will look to try a new resort this fall.

Fantastic Hotel Right on the Beach

Pros: Overall, we were very satisfied with the room, beach, pool and lazy river, and all of the wonderful service we had. I’d definitely go back!
Location: You'll have to take a taxi into town, there is nothing within walking distance. Go to Las Olas Blvd for restaurants and shops.
A colleague recommended the hotel and it lived up to - and even exceeded our expectations. The front desk staff greeted us promptly when we arrived. We stayed in an ocean front suite, and it was very spacious with high ceilings, large sleeping area, and a separate room with sofas/table/chairs set and another tv. The balcony looked right onto the ocean and we had gorgeous views of the coastline either direction we looked. The bathroom had complementary products in a mango coconut scent that was wonderful. The beach and pool staff were fabulous at greeting us when we’d enter and were prompt at providing chairs, umbrellas and towels. Even when the pool appeared packed, they would move lounge chairs around and make sure all guests had seats. We felt very pampered and were able to really relax. Both the pool and beach had a water pitcher with complementary fruit-infused ice cold water and cups which we really appreciated. The pool even had extra sunblock for guests to use. The gift shop had everything you could think of needing and even sorbet (as a vegan I appreciated this!) in addition to icecream. The woman who ran the shop was very friendly and helpful. We ate lunch at the hotel’s restaurant everyday and all the servers we had were friendly. The bar tenders were also excellent and gave us suggestions for things to do in town – although you can’t beat staying there and sitting on the rocking chairs and overlooking the ocean! Overall, we were very satisfied with everything!

Hotel under construction

Pros: the pool and beach area was really nice and the rooms were spacious/clean
We were not aware of the the construction that was underway everyday from 8am-8pm. Our first room on the 6th floor and the construction was a big negative, but the hotel staff gave us a new room on the 3rd floor, and it was much better. The pool area and beach were wonderful and the staff were very nice. Once the construction is finished, I'd recommend this hotel...

Excellent service

My room was perfect nice views clean and perfect size, room service was fast, the peruvian lady that took care of us at the restaurant was very profesional but friendly the smoked salmon was perfect, nice clean beach, there are several places where you can tell this hotel needs some renovations but who cares after a couple of drinks and friendly service, this is not the ritz but for the price is a gem

beautiful hotel, poor service

After taking some time to think about our stay at the Pelican Grand Resort, I would have to say that I would not recommend this place to my friends and family if they were planning a trip to Ft. Lauderdale. To be honest, there were some good features about this resort however the bad seems to outweigh the good when all things are considered. As far the positives go, this resort is in a great location (quiet stretch of beach and near downtown) and my wife and I found the room to be oversized and nicely kept. In addition, the valet staff was prompt and seemed to take good care of my car. Outside of those three things, we found the resort to be rather disappointing, especially when it comes it comes to their interest in serving their guests. Both at the bar and pool side, it appeared the staff was more concerned with checking their phones or doing other things. Service at both locations moved at a glacial pace. Further, the poolside bathrooms were disgusting and poorly maintained, if at all. Finally, I found the staff at the front desk to be pleasant and helpful however it appears they have some issues as well. Upon checking out, I discovered they had the wrong name associated with my room and when they tried to fix it, they got the name corrected but then screwed up my mailing address. What a mess!!! With so many other 4-star resorts available in the Ft. Lauderdale area, I would prefer to give one of them a chance before staying at this resort again. Please be aware, there is no self-parking at this resort and their daily charge is $28.00. (Ouch!) I found this number to be rather steep considering other hotels of a similar nature that we have stayed at in the past. The resort fee was only $15.00 a day which I found to be more than reasonable given how upscale this place is.

beautiful location and facilities

I enjoyed my stay but felt the restaurant, parking, and the fact that they hold $50 per day on your credit card for incidentals was pricey. A six day stay meant they held $350 that I could have used during my stay.

Great for Kids

This hotel is located north of the busy part of Ft. Lauderdale and is calm enough for small kids.  The beach is private and the hotel provides chairs and towels. The pool has an area for small kids that is around 6 inches deep and goes deeper towards the other side.
